Marumi Neutral Density (ND) Filter ranges extended

Kenro, the UK and Ireland distributor of Marumi lens filters, has announced the immediate availability of a number of new Neutral Density (ND) filters to fit both stills and video camera lenses.

ND filters are particularly suited to digital photography, as camera sensors are very sensitive to light. On a sunny day, even using the highest f-stop and a fast shutter speed may not be enough to obtain a perfect exposure.

Plus, to create special in-camera effects such as shallow depth of field or movement of water, a slow shutter speed and/or wide aperture is required. An ND filter reduces the amount of light entering the lens, thereby enabling you to create these highly desired effects with ease.

The darker the ND filter, the wider your aperture or slower your shutter can be, allowing you to create some truly amazing effects that are just not possible without the use of such a filter.

Marumi's popular Digital High Grade (DHG) filter range has been expanded and now includes ND filters with a fixed density of 8, 16, 32 or 64 in filter thread sizes from 37mm up to 82mm.

Marumi has also launched a very high density filter (ND 100,000) to enable the shooting of solar eclipses, in thread sizes 58mm and 77mm.

For those who want full flexibility and to save space a new range of 'variable' ND filters have also been introduced. The Marumi Variable ND 2.5 - ND 500 filters are available in two sizes: 58mm and 77mm. These are in addition to the Marumi DHG variable ND filter range ND2 - ND400, with sizes from 49mm to 82mm.

Says Paul Kench, Kenro's managing director: "We have seen a big increase in ND filter sales. They seem to be the 'next big thing' for advanced stills photography effects and also for creating shallow depth of field for video. With filter sizes going right up to 82mm, even those with very large lenses will be able to use these filters to their advantage."

SRPs start at £40.44 for the fixed density filters and £125.40 for the variable filters, including VAT.

Kenro will be exhibiting at The Photography Show 2015, Birmingham NEC, 21-24 March, Hall 5 Stand F82. Please come and visit us to view our latest ranges.
