MPA announces the 2012 Master Photography Diamond Jubilee Awards

The Master Photographers Association (MPA) has announced that it will be accepting submissions from 6th June 2012 to its Master Photography Diamond Jubilee Awards 2012.

Both The Queen and MPA celebrate their Diamond Jubilees in 2012, which makes this year’s overall ‘International Master Photographer of the Year’ title even more special.

The Awards are considered the most anticipated of those in the UK, and are open to all qualified members of the Association, plus there are also several open categories this year that are available to other professional photographers from the UK and around the world - not just members of the MPA.

Non-members have the opportunity to enter into the following categories: the Yervant Bride Award, the David Facey Award, the Aspiring Members open category, the Scientific Applied and Technical Award, and the Fellows Open category (open to Professional Photographers holding a Fellowship of MPA, BIPP, RPS, AIIP (Australia), IPPA (Ireland).

Additionally, two new categories are launched for this year’s Awards; the Young Photographer Award (Under 16s) which is free to enter, and the Jubilee Award, a category created especially for images of the 2012 ‘Jubilee’ events, which has a reduced fee of only £2.50 to mark the special occasion.

The Awards ceremony, set to take place at the spectacular Gateshead Hilton in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Sunday 14th October, welcomes this year an exciting addition to the Wedding category in the form of ‘Wedding Art and Fashion,’ inviting members to submit creative work involving elements not present on the wedding day.

In response to high membership demand, the 2012 Awards also welcomes the ‘Wedding Day’ category, allowing photographers to submit real images taken on the big day.

Colin Buck, MPA chief executive, says: “Since the beginning, The Master Photography Awards has continued to attract excellence and we look forward to seeing what this year brings following the high standard of previous years by MPA members as well as other professionals.”

Photographers are asked to submit their final images before the closing date of Friday August 3rd 2012, with all images having been created or produced between the dates of June 1st 2011 and July 31st 2012, so there’s no time to waste!

Cost per image/print entry is set at £6 incl VAT, with entries into the Mario Acerboni Creative Wedding Award fixed at £6 per-three prints (open to MPA and BIPP members). The category of ‘Wedding Album’ requires a £12 fee and is digital-submission only.

Entry forms are available to download from the MPA Awards website, www.masterphotographyawards.co.uk containing full rules, costs and other details.
