Microtek ScanMaker i900 Wins Hot1 Award from Professional Photographer Magazine
NEW YORK - (Business Wire) - Oct. 4, 2004 Microtek(R) today announced the ScanMaker(R) i900 among the select group of 2004 Hot1 Award winners from Professional Photographer Magazine. This is the second consecutive year that Microtek has garnered the award, with the ArtixScan 120tf multiformat film scanner achieving this honor in 2003.
The ScanMaker i900 is a 3200-dpi, Dual Media flatbed scanner offering a host of exclusive technologies, including Microtek’s PictuRescue(TM) system with DIGITAL ICE Photo Print Technology and ColoRescue(TM). DIGITAL ICE Photo Print Technology reconstructs surface-damaged photos by eliminating rips and scratches, while the ColoRescue automatic color recovery system renews faded colors in both prints and film to their original vibrant tones. With PictuRescue, what normally takes hours of painstaking work now takes only minutes.
In addition, the ScanMaker i900 packs impressive hardware, including:
—4.2 maximum optical density
—6400 x 3200 dpi
—48-bit color
—FireWire and Hi-Speed USB connectivity
—8.5” x 14” legal scan bed size
—Dual Media scanning, with an upper bed to scan reflectives and a lower bay to scan film and transparencies
—Multiformat film scanning, with included SnapTrans(TM) film holders for easy batch scanning of various film types, including 35mm mounted slides, 35mm filmstrips, medium-format film, and 4"x5” film
The ScanMaker i900 also features E.D.I.T., a patented “glassless” scanning system built into the lower bay of Microtek’s Dual Media scanners that allows the scanner CCD to directly read the emulsion side of the film during scanning without any interfering pane of glass. This effectively eliminates problems associated with normal glass transparency scanning like Newton Rings, resulting in distortion-free images.
The ScanMaker i900 comes with a robust software package, including SilverFast Ai 6.0 from LaserSoft Imaging, with its renowned film-handling capability for photographers. SilverFast offers features like dust and scratch removal, selective color correction, grain and noise elimination, and superior negative film scanning as provided by NegaFix(TM) to optimize the handling of color and black-and-white negative film.
Adding to this premier bundle are Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0; Adobe Photoshop Album SE (PC only); ABBYY FineReader Sprint OCR; Ulead PhotoExplorer; Kodak Digital Science Color Management; Microtek’s ScanWizard Pro scanning software with LANShare scanner-sharing utility for PCs; and Microtek’s Scanner ICC Profiler with IT-8 reflective and transmissive calibration targets.
The ScanMaker i900 is available through Microtek’s global distribution channels that include Ingram Micro, Tech Data, distributors of photographic equipment and supplies, system integrators and value-added resellers, and other direct mail and full retail channels. MSRP is $599.99.
