Mobile Photography Awards Winners Announced

The winners of the third annual Mobile Photography Awards have been announced. Photographers from nearly 75 countries submitted over 7,000 images, the highest in the three year history of the awards. The $3,000 Grand Prize has been awarded to Cedric Blanchon (France) for the image above. The MPA/DIPTICAPP Photo Essay 1st Place winner is Cesar Rodriguez-Becerra of Mexico.

February 12, 2014: The winners and honourable mentions for the 3rd Annual Mobile Photography Awards, the world’s largest competition for mobile phone photography and art, have been announced. The $3,000 Grand Prize has been awarded to Cedric Blanchon of France. The MPA/DIPTICAPP Photo Essay 1st Place winner is Cesar Rodriguez-Becerra of Mexico.

Photographers from nearly 75 countries submitted over 7,000 images, the highest in the three year history of the awards.  The 18 member jury, made up of internationally renowned photographers, educators, journalists and leaders in the mobile photography movement, have selected the very finest images from artists and photographers right across the globe.  Winners in all categories are found at Mobile Photography Awards (www.mobilephotoawards.com)  

Daniel Berman, the founder of the annual awards, says the winners and honourable mentions offer “…a rare opportunity for viewers to see the best from all of the leading genres in mobile photography.  From our Street Photography finalists to our Visual FX stylists, the images are, in many instances, the world’s finest examples of the kind of ground-breaking creative opportunities afforded by these amazing devices.”

As in all other years of the awards, the winning images will be available for viewing and purchasing as limited editions at gallery exhibits and fine art fairs throughout 2014, premiering in San Jose in April.  Past exhibits include the Orange County Centre for Contemporary Art, the Soho Gallery for Digital Art in NYC, The Obscura Gallery in Melbourne, AU, The Holcim Gallery in Milton, Ontario, the San Francisco Fine Art Fair, ArtHaus and more.

The Mobile Photography Awards, through exhibit sales and awards, has given more than $40,000 directly to artists and photographers.
