MPA Wedding & Portrait Awards Now Sponsored by Fujifilm

The MPA Wedding & Portrait Awards, formerly known as the Kodak Wedding & Portrait Awards, are now sponsored by Fujifilm. The Awards are open to all professional photographers in the UK and Republic of Ireland and you don’t need to be a member of the MPA (Master Photographers Association) to submit entries. There are two categories - Wedding Photography and Portrait Photography - and the winner of each wins £1000 cash prize. Note that all entries must now be submitted on Fujifilm paper and if the image is originated on film, it must be Fujifilm stock. There will be two rounds of judging, one in May and one in September. The closing dates are 3 May and 30 August 2011. Photographs must have been taken between 29 August 2010 and 29 August 2011 to be eligible.

Fujifilm takes over from Kodak for consumer awards 2011
After many successful years the Kodak Wedding & Portrait Awards has finally closed its doors. More recently the Awards have been run in conjunction with the Master Photographers Association, but that is set to change for 2011.
Fujifilm UK has stepped in and is now the main supporter of the rebranded ‘MPA Wedding & Portrait Awards, sponsored by Fujifilm’. The Awards are still very much geared as a ‘consumer’ competition, giving professional photographers the chance to run sales promotions using the lure of big cash prizes and a recognised high street brand.
The Awards are open to ALL professional photographers in the UK and Republic of Ireland and you don’t need to be a member of the MPA to submit entries.
As before, the Awards are also a major fund raiser for the PACE charity that supports children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy. One pound from each £2 entry fee goes directly to PACE.
There are two categories - Wedding Photography and Portrait Photography - and the winning consumer of each wins £1000 cash prize. In addition, there are 20 consumer runners up prizes of £50 shopping vouchers. The winning photographers receive a certificate and the overall winners are presented with a trophy at the Master Photography Awards gala dinner in Newcastle in October 2011.
Says Colin Buck, chief executive of the MPA: ‘We are sorry to lose Kodak’s involvement in these Awards, but are delighted that Fujifilm are now fully committed to this initiative which aims to drive extra custom through the doors of professional photographers.’
All entries must now be submitted on Fujifilm paper and if the image is originated on film, it must be Fujifilm stock. Photographs must have been taken between 29 August 2010 and 29 August 2011 to be eligible. Closing date for the first round of judging is 3 May 2011.
