NEC Display Solutions Press Release

Munich, December 14, 2006 – NEC Display Solutions offers discerning users even more class with the new NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi: the widescreen format and high resolution of 1920 x 1200 ensures particularly ergonomic, comfortable viewing. Details and texts are 7.5% larger than on a 24” monitor, which significantly reduces eye strain when viewing. Specially designed for professional use in the fields of CAD/CAM and DTP, banking and insurance, the NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi is also perfect for multi-media applications. The H-IPS A-TW Pol. (Horizontal IPS with Advanced True Wide Polarizer) panel ensures glossy, high-quality pictures. The monitor itself is also remarkable for its innovative X-Light® Pro feature, specially developed by NEC. This constantly monitors variations in background lighting, brightness and colour reproduction and automatically corrects them internally, which is ideal for colour-critical applications.

The new NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi is the model at the very top of the NEC Display Solutions high-end 90 Series widescreen range. This LCD display, with its unique features, represents the ideal solution for work in the areas of CAD/CAM, DTP, document processing, high-end office applications or broadcasting.

Two A4 pages can be viewed comfortably side by side on the generous 26” screen of the NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi. What is particularly practical is the resulting extra space for additional tools or windows. Even the smallest details can be viewed in an ergonomically optimal format thanks to the 1920 x 1200 resolution, which provides a pixel size similar to that of the widely popular 19” monitors. The reproduction of Office application typefaces is 7.5% larger than on a 24” screen. A larger distance between pixels (0,287 mm) means excellent legibility that also reduces strain on the eye. The Automatic Black-Level Adjustment feature facilitates easy, individual management of grey values for optimal reproduction, as the level of blackness is automatically adjusted to suit the picture displayed, which is particularly important in the case of applications in the field of medicine.

NEC Display Solutions has expanded its famous ColorComp function and now offers even more benefits in the high-end segment: this feature automatically adjusts the uniformity of brightness, colour and gamma distribution across the entire display in variable stages. The new X-Light® Pro function measures background lighting brightness and colour, adjusting background lighting and RGB channels automatically. This optimises LCD performance not only during the warm-up phase, but also throughout the LCD display’s entire working life. The NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi guarantees faithful image reproduction.

The new H-IPS A-TW panel, which, besides other features, offers exceptionally wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 178° without colour shift (colour reproduction does not vary with the viewer’s line of sight), is another strong point. This ensures an excellent view of the panel from any angle, making the product ideal where multi-monitor applications are needed e.g. financial trading or broadcasting. In such applications, the TileComp feature also compensates automatically for the optical distortion – such as in the representation of a circle – normally caused by the casing frame.

The NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi covers up to 95% of the Adobe RGB colour range. The exceptionally high contrast ratio of 800:1 and brightness of up to 400 cd/m2 make the NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi the perfect choice for colour-critical applications. Overdrive technology and a reaction time of just 8ms also facilitate processing of video images.

The NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi is fitted with ambix³ ™ and therefore offers unusually high connection flexibility (VGA, DVI-D and DVI-I); thanks to CableComp, the monitor can be operated up to 100 m from the signal source using analogue cables or 30 m with digital cables. Sync Continuity Detection allows the LCD to recognise automatically whether connection to the signal was direct or via KVM switches, and also optimises picture quality independently.

With the advantage of many years of experience in the high-end sector, NEC Display Solutions placed particular emphasis on ergonomic aspects and Total Cost of Ownership when developing the NEC MultiSync® 90 Series monitors. As a result, the stand of the new 26” LCD is height-adjustable by up to 150 mm. The screen can be rotated quickly and easily to portrait mode for medical applications or for viewing graphics. The Advanced-Non-Touch-Auto-Adjust function (NTAA) automatically checks and, if necessary, readjusts setting changes made by the user during the current session. As a means of reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to an absolute minimum, NEC Display Solutions has also integrated a Vacation Switch, PowerOff Timer and Real Time Clock Scheduler in the NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi. Power consumption is reduced even further by additional EcoModes. All monitor settings can be changed via mouse and keyboard using NaViSet®; the NaViSet® Administrator allows changes to be made easily via the network.

In common with the other NEC LCD monitors, the NEC MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi also complies with all current standards and norms such as ISO 13406-2, CE, TÜV GS, TÜV ERGONOMIE GEEA/Energy Label, Energy Star 4.0, UL, CCC, MPR II / MPR III, PCT/Gost and TCO’03 Norm.
