HPHP Press Release

BOEBLINGEN, Germany, 16 November 2006 – HP has announced the creation of a dedicated Graphic Arts division to drive the adoption of digital printing and bring ground-breaking technologies, new business opportunities and outstanding print quality to the expanding Graphic Arts sector. The new division, part of HP’s Imaging and Printing Group, brings together a huge portfolio of digital print solutions to help HP customers capture new business opportunities with high-growth applications from stamps to billboards, enhanced by a complete range of industry-leading end-to-end solutions.

The new organisation, encompassing Designjet large format printing, HP Scitex wide format printing, HP Indigo digital offset presses and HP Specialty Printing Systems, will be led in Europe by Santiago Morera, Vice President and General Manager of the Graphic Arts Business for the Imaging and Printing Group in EMEA. He will be supported by Francois Martin, EMEA Graphic Arts marketing manager, Manel Martinez, Large Format Printing Business Manager for EMEA responsible for the combined HP DesignJet and HP Scitex businesses, and Marc Schillemans, business manager for HP Indigo.

Broadest Portfolio
HP, with the broadest Graphic Arts digital printing portfolio on the market, is leading the introduction of digital technologies into every part of the industry.

HP gives customers the ability to produce an incredibly wide range of applications, from digital art prints and photos, to signage, posters, direct mail, marketing collateral, books and industrial applications such as labels, flexible packaging and shrink sleeves.

HP is helping customers add value to their business offerings through innovations unique to HP:

HP Designjet Z2100 and Z3100 printers come with an embedded spectrophotometer, giving professional photographers and graphic artists industry-leading colour calibration so that their vision is accurately reflected in the final print.

The HP Scitex X2 Print-head with UV curable inks and piezoelectric inkjet technology delivers high ink flows for high quality, high-speed printing. The print-head takes industrial wide-format printing to new levels of quality and productivity.

A new suite of tools for HP Indigo digital offset presses automatically optimises digital photos and speeds up workflows for the efficient production of high-volume photo products.

The new HP Indigo ws4500 digital press enables label converters to print shorter runs without incurring huge costs, gives them fast turnaround on print jobs and makes personalisation and customisation easy.

Proven results
The HP Photosmart Pro B9180 A3 printer this year won a coveted Technical Imaging Press Association (TIPA) award for best A3 printer. The award recognises that its long-lasting, fade resistant HP Vivera inks and enhanced colour accuracy present new standards of quality for professional photographers.

These advances will greatly accelerate the move from analogue to digital, said Francois Martin, Graphic Arts marketing manager. “HP has already achieved leadership over the home and office printing markets by carefully listening to the needs of its customers and fulfilling them through innovative solutions. Now HP is ready to provide digital printing solutions to every part of the Graphic Arts market with robust technologies and partnerships.”
