Go Goa Holidays Press Release

Activity holiday operator, Go Goa Holidays (http://gogoaholidays.co.uk), is introducing a tour for both budding and experienced photographers to capture the real Goa rarely seen by tourists. The first of its kind, the guided tour will present incredible picture opportunities as it takes in the exotic fusion of Portuguese and Indian cultures, stunning scenery and technicolour markets, in one of the world’s most photogenic countries.

Over five inspiring days, participants will be led by experienced professional photographer, Mark Oakley, who is also an expert in the region. The tour will offer opportunities to experience and practice wildlife, landscape, architectural, travel, documentary and macro photography.

Locations will include the churches, convents and shrines of Old Goa (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a 200-year-old colonial mansion full of original furniture and art, and wildlife sanctuaries with a rich variety of vistas, flora and fauna.

Participants will also get a glimpse of rural life, taking in rice paddy fields and a working spice farm, and immerse themselves in vibrant markets and bustling bazaars, infused with colour and full of everyday Indian life. The tour will conclude with a heritage walk through the Latin quarter of Goa’s capital city, its south European architecture and atmosphere fused with south Indian scents.

Whilst not a photography course, Mark will be on hand to offer guidance on the best techniques to capture Goa’s fascinating architecture, landscape and people, as well as trouble-shooting tips on everything from composition and exposure to aperture and ISO settings.

Mark says: “Locations, light conditions and vantage points throughout the tour have all been carefully designed to maximise the chances to get great photos – whether it’s a balcony view over a market, a dawn trip to a wildlife watering hole, or the iconic sunset shot at one of Goa’s most beautiful beaches. We’ll provide people with rich canvas to develop their photographic skills - and ensure they go home with a lasting holiday souvenir!”

Participants will stay in accommodation ranging from cosy village guesthouses to a heritage hotel. The tour will run on the second week of the month from October 2010 to April 2011, with prices starting from £495 per person.

Go Goa Holidays is run by Colin Horwood, Managing Director in London, and Beryl Nasse, Director based in Goa, and was established in 2008 to provide cooking holidays in Goa. Building on that success it has added photography tours in 2010, with plans for trekking and cycling holidays in 2011.

The photography holiday runs from Sunday to Sunday, with the 5-day tour starting on Monday. Prices for the 2010/11 season are £495 per person with two sharing a room and £595 per person with single occupancy, including seven nights B&B accommodation, the 5-day guided photography tour, airport transfers, transport to all the photo locations, entry and camera licence fees, and lunch on the tour days. Prices do not include flights or visas.
