NikonNikon is sponsoring the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships, with Nikon D3 DSLR cameras recording the event. During the five-day competition, over 750 of the world’s best swimmers will be competing, with Kaiwai Tang and David Ashdown in attendance pool-side as Nikon’s official photographers. “Nikon UK is very pleased to be associated with such a prestigious event. Its global credentials and exciting action will attract a lot of interest from some of the world’s best photographers – so it’s only right that we’ll be there, championing the world’s best camera equipment.” commented Simon Coleman, General Manager Imaging Division, Nikon UK.

Nikon UK Press Release

Nikon UK is proud to announce that Nikon will be sponsoring the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) as an Official Partner of the event.

For the first time ever, the event will take place in Manchester at the MEN Arena between the 9th and 13th April 2008.  During the five-day competition, over 750 of the world’s best swimmers from around the globe will be fiercely competing for gold in front of thousands of spectators – in a temporary pool, designed and built specially for the occasion.

As Manchester’s biggest sporting event since the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and with so much action packed into just five days, Nikon will be there to ensure that not a moment is missed.

In addition to a prominent brand presence and promotional activity at the event, Nikon will also be offering services free of charge to professional photographers through the Nikon Service Depot. Photographers will be able to talk shop with Nikon’s technical support experts, as well as use the depot’s facilities to help out with any equipment or camera requirements.

To add to the buzz, Kaiwai Tang and David Ashdown will be in attendance pool-side as Nikon’s official photographers. Using the legendary FX format Nikon D3, they’ll be capturing the best images of the day.

Simon Coleman, General Manager Imaging Division, Nikon UK, comments: “Nikon UK is very pleased to be associated with such a prestigious event. Its global credentials and exciting action will attract a lot of interest from some of the world’s best photographers – so it’s only right that we’ll be there, championing the world’s best camera equipment.”

An online photo gallery will be uploaded at the end of the Championship; to re-live the best moments and see stunning images from the event, log onto www.nikon.co.uk/gallery.
