New specialist Northern Lights photography lectures in Swedish Lapland (ICEHOTEL & Abisko) with Discover the World

For the ultimate photography trip, Discover the World is introducing a number of free Northern Lights, Snow and Ice Photography lectures with award-winning photographer Ragnar TH Sigurddson for a number of departures to the ICEHOTEL and Abisko in Swedish Lapland this winter.

For optimum chances to see the Aurora Borealis, Discover the World has chosen to run the lectures on the trips which combine a stay at the ICEHOTEL with a visit to the mountain station in the Abisko National Park, a world-renowned spot to watch the Northern Lights. With two locations used over the short break guests will double their chances of catching the spectacle on camera as well as receiving advice on how best to capture snow and ice during daylight and evening. These special lectures will run during the 3-night breaks departing on the 20th December and 25th January 2014 which are priced from £1,278pp, including direct flights from Heathrow to Kiruna, accommodation and transfers.

With 30 years experience, Ragnar Sigurdsson will pass on the tricks of the trade and give illuminating advice on how to produce amazing images of the Northern Lights as well as snow and ice.  Enjoy day and evening photography lectures and then head out to put your new skills to test taking incredible images of this year’s ICEHOTEL with its Art Suites and frozen Chapel. Spend one evening on the banks of the Torne River at the ICEHOTEL before moving on to spend a day in the Abisko National Park and the evening at the Abisko Mountain Station, another opportunity of catching the Northern Lights through the lens.  Ragnar will be on hand for one to one help and advice throughout the break.

Not only will the lectures improve your specialist photography skills for the elusive Aurora, this season is tipped by NASA to be the peak of Northern Lights activity this decade, with a surge of solar activity expected in late 2013 – increasing the chances of seeing the Northern Light displays, making this the perfect time to perfect your photography techniques.

This special holiday is available on 3-night breaks departing on the 20th December and 25th January and prices are available from £1,278 per person (based on two adults sharing accommodation) including breakfast throughout, a 3-course evening meal at Abisko, chairlift excursion to the Sky Station at Abisko, direct flights from Heathrow to Kiruna, transfers, complimentary Northern Lights, Snow and Ice Photography Lectures, one night in a Snow Room, one night in a Kaamos Room or a chalet at the ICEHOTEL and one night at Abisko Mountain Station.
