The Olympus PEN E-PL8 has just won a Red Dot Design Award with its combination of form and function. Awarding the title Red Dot Award Winner 2017, the international Red Dot jury of 40 design experts stated that “the compact and lightweight PEN E-PL8 is a prime example of retro design, high grade materials and state-of-the-art technology all in one.” To further compliment the camera, Olympus commissioned high profile Berlin fashion designer Malaika Raiss to create some beautiful accessories including specially designed straps and bags. “Women are amongst the most prolific and creative visual online content creators,” says Tanja Mehler, European Marketing Manager for Olympus PEN. “They can for example appreciate the E-PL8 camera as a way to expand their creative power if they are moving up from a phone because along with its quality, it is easy to use. Or they can appreciate how small and easy-to-carry it is compared to a conventional DSLR. What was missing were good looking accessories to go with it.”

Award winning Olympus PEN camera boasts new range of designer fashion accessories

London, 27.06.2017 – When you are officially recognised as having award winning looks; it is an ideal time to create some accessories to match. The Olympus PEN E-PL8 has just won a coveted Red Dot Design Award with its combination of form and function. Olympus commissioned high profile Berlin fashion designer Malaika Raiss to create some beautiful accessories to further compliment the camera.

The Olympus PEN E-PL8 combines the style of the past with contemporary design. Whether in stylish brown or other classic colours, this digital camera gives individual outfits that special something. Yet the E-PL8 is not just a pretty face: Olympus technology allows users to capture first-rate images and videos while also making it easier than ever to upload recordings to smartphones and share them on social media without needing to compromise on quality.

Already ahead of the trend, Olympus was the first camera company to launch an entire range of Fashion Accessories in late 2015 dedicated to one camera range – the Olympus PEN. Interchangeable lens cameras have traditionally been a male preserve with over 90% being bought by men in most countries. The Olympus PEN has bucked that trend as in key markets over the last two years the ratio is now 50/50 or better in favour of women.*

Sadly traditional straps and bags have tended to be at best a little conservative and at worst, downright ugly. No longer.
