ON THE EDGE - EXTREME LANDSCAPES PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

The new ‘On the Edge - Extreme Landscapes’ photography course from Photo Iconic (July 3rd -4th) takes participants off dry land and out to sea in a high-speed rigid inflatable boat. The perfect course to get some really interesting and saleable ‘green’ environmental images, it lets photographers really get up close to the giant turbines of an off-shore wind farm, and even to off-shore gas rigs. It also takes in some charming coastal towns and villages, a prehistoric lake and some atmospheric deserted buildings.

“This is an amazing and unique experience, a chance to get unusual images with real commercial value and from a very different perspective,” said Photo Iconic tutor, Chris Coe. Chris is a pro photographer with over 20 years experience. His photography has taken him all over the world on commissioned work and stock shoots, photographing on film and digitally, in every format from 35mm to large format panoramics.

“It’s a great opportunity for those who shoot for stock, particularly to capture images with a strong environmental theme. And photographers who aren’t necessarily looking for stock images can just enjoy the whole experience of heading out to sea and getting close to some fantastic photographic subjects.”

The adventure starts at the port of Felixstowe in Suffolk and travels out to the off-shore gas rigs in the North Sea -  a short journey for a boat which is capable of speeds up to 50 knots! The course also takes in the Suffolk Heritage Coast, the beautiful landscape of Orford Ness with its impressive lighthouse and deserted Ministry of Defence building, the prehistoric Benacre Lake, the seaside towns of Southwold and Lowestoft and the huge and impressive windfarm near Great Yarmouth, presenting the opportunity to photograph the giant turbines from close up.

On Saturday evening, July 3rd, participants are invited to join the tutor for dinner in the historic Crown Hotel in Framlingham, and enjoy a meal of specially selected local produce. This area of Suffolk offers everything from oysters to cider, cheese to salt marsh lamb, and there’s even a vineyard in Framlingham, so it should prove a treat for ‘foodies’. And on Monday, July 5th, there’s an optional feedback day at the Crown Hotel, where participants will receive that all important feedback on the images they shot on the two previous days and be shown how to edit and select their best images for different markets.

This course is limited to just five participants. It costs £520 for the Saturday and Sunday, to include personal insurance while on the boat, and dinner at the Crown Hotel on the Saturday night (but excluding accommodation), and £95 for the optional feedback day on Monday, July 5th.  For further information, or to make a booking, please visit www.photoiconic.com, email [email protected] or call 01728 669185.
