CITY MAGAZINE UNVEILS WINNING CONTEST IMAGE ON COVER OF FALL TRAVEL ISSUE
Featuring Complete Portfolio of the Winning Photos from the “One City, Many Destinations” Travel Photography Competition
New York – September 17, 2007 - CITY Magazine’s Fall Travel issue unveils the 16 winning photos from the “One City, Many Destinations” travel photography competition, including the grand prize–winning image on the cover of the magazine. Known for its cutting-edge photography and lifestyle editorial coverage, CITY asked amateur and professional photographers from across the nation and around the world to submit images that best capture the essence of a city or other travel destination.
Out of more than 4,000 entries, New York–based photographer Konstantino Hatzisarros’s stunning image of two young monks in a Burmese temple was selected as the grand-prize winner. Inside the issue, Hatzisarros speaks about Burma’s exotic beauty, and how visiting the city of Mingoon’s many temples and monks last year, he stopped in a stairway to rest an injured foot. He looked up to find the scene captured in the winning photo unfold before his eyes—and camera lens.
Along with the coveted cover shot for CITY’s Fall Travel issue, Hatzisarros won a Leica M8 professional camera, a trip for two to any W Hotel in North America and a gift certificate to Calumet Photographic.
A special portfolio of fifteen runners-up images from the One City, Many Destinations competition is also revealed inside the issue. These images capture the essence of a city while taking readers on a photographic journey around the world, from a rainy day in Paris to the streets of Calcutta to the picturesque Cook Islands to the Great Pyramids of Giza.
The Fall Travel issue is also jam-packed with coverage of the hottest international travel destinations, such as Moscow and Rio de Janeiro, where CITY slips behind the velvet ropes and discovers danger mixing with ultra-luxury. A comprehensive guide to the upcoming winter’s ski season is complete with CITY’s favorite slope-side hotels, après ski cocktails, fireside fashion, ski gear, and ten signature runs every ski enthusiast must try at least once before they retire their boots. Finally, CITY takes Paris’s new free bike program for a ride on the Champs-Élysées and explores stunning new hotels for jet setters to experience this winter.
