Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USMThe-Digital-Picture have reviewed the new Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens, which offers up to 4 stops of image stabilisation with 2 modes and a compact, lightweight body.

“Canon’s first 4-stop Image Stabilizer makes this lens just as handholdable in low light as the extremely popular 70-200 f/2.8 IS with its 3-stop stabilizer and wider aperture. You can shoot with this lens hand held at an up-to-4-stop slower shutter speed than with the non-IS Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM Lens. For example (and theoretically), if you need a shutter speed of 1/250 at 200mm without IS to achieve sharp images, you can shoot at 1/15 with the 70-200 f/4 IS with similar results - this is a huge difference. The image stabilizer will compensate for camera movement during the shot (within limits of course).”

Canon PIXMA MP600TrustedReviews have cast their critical eye over the new Canon PIXMA MP600 all-in-one device.

“This is a neat, square-cut machine, a second-generation take on the ‘lacquer box’ look of recent Canon all-in-ones. It also uses the dual paper source approach of recent multi-function devices, where you can feed paper from a near-vertical hopper at the rear or from a cassette sliding in under the machine. Either source can be set up for a variety of paper sizes, so you can choose which one to feed plain paper from and which to use for photo blanks or letterheads. There’s also a CD/DVD carrier, which feeds from the front, so you can directly print coated disc blanks.”

Samsung Digimax S600ThinkCamera have the first online review of the budget 6 megapixel Samsung Digimax S600 camera.

“Our advice is forget about A3 prints. If you stick to printing at 6 x 4 and even a 5x7 you’ll get admirable quality pictures. Enter into the digital zoom area and image quality is noticeably poorer. Our advice is to stay away from digital zoom and this is especially true S600. The LCD gives a lovely and somewhat flatters the images but you’re going to be disappointed when you view them on a computer.”

DigiCamReview.co.uk have reviewed the Polaroid i1032, a budget 10 megapixel digital camera with 3x zoom lens and 2.4 inch LCD screen.

“Exposure can be hit and miss with this camera when outside on bright sunny days, it can however produce some excellent colours, and very good macro photos on duller days. Purple fringing was quite bad in high contrast areas near picture corners, and will become more noticeable, on prints larger than A4. This is a lens quality issue, which becomes more exaggerated the higher the resolution of the picture. The camera was generally competent at focusing. I noticed slight barreling but no pincushion distortion. There is a good range of image sizes, and compression options, and a choice of two aspect ratios. Auto white balance seemed to be good. The camera gives you good options to customise images - there are three sharpness and metering settings and full manual exposure, for example. The more experienced photographer should find the manual options quite useful. The camera will display a shaking hand, to warn you could end up with blurry pictures, especially in low light, or when using the zoom.”

Canon EOS 5DIn their latest article CameraLabs consider whether or not it’s worth upgrading to the full-frame Canon EOS 5D digital SLR for owners of the 20D and 350D / XT.

“So the question facing owners of Canon’s 10D, 20D and even 30D, along with the 300D / Rebel and 350D / XT, is what should they buy for a really significant upgrade? Since we’re probably at least six months away from an ‘EOS 40D’, the most obvious answer is of course Canon’s own EOS 5D, but this has implications beyond upgrading from, say, a 20D to the 30D. The big selling point of the Canon EOS 5D is of course its high resolution full-frame sensor, but for people who’ve only ever owned Canon EF-S mount digital SLRs, the switch will involve more than just a new body. After all if the only Canon body you’ve ever owned is a 20D, 30D, 300D / Rebel or 350D / Rebel XT, chances are you mostly own EF-S lenses designed for their physically smaller sensors. “

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50PCMagazine have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 announced today, which features a 3 inch, 230,000 pixel LCD touch-screen.

” This looker has a stunning design, comes in fantastic colors—the one I reviewed is a deep crimson—and sports a huge, 3-inch touch screen on its back. Generally, the camera performs quite well, but I found a few issues. Despite the company’s claims of great low-light picture quality without using a flash, I found the images I took under these conditions to be just average. And then there’s the price ($499.95 direct), which is too expensive, even for a stylish ultracompact.”
