Outdoor photographer Andy Biggs has launched the Kiboko bag that allows all photo gear to be safely stored and comfortably carried but also quickly accessed. The Kiboko bag is deep enough to accommodate a pro level SLR camera body, as well as medium format cameras. The bag will also hold up to a 500mm and 600mm lens simultaneously. The first design from Biggs’ Gura Gear line, the Kiboko bag can be carried either as a backpack with a retractable, expertly engineered harness system or as a shoulder bag using ergonomically placed handles.

The winners of the Britain iS competition, launched by iStockphoto and the Guardian, have been announced. The overall winner is Aaron Yeandle (pictured) whose entry, “Western Ranger”, has been appraised as “a great representation of a British child play acting as a US cultural icon in a back-alley of a midland city” by Guardian Picture Editor, Roger Tooth. Best landscape went to Glen Humphries’ scene of Saltburn Beach in North Yorkshire; best urban to Luca di Fillipo’s summer scene of London’s Southbank; and best stock went to Chris Rutter’s dramatic tree shot. Sigma Japan is launching the Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM telezoom in Pentax and Sony mounts. Sigma’s original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function offers the equivalent of using a shutter speed approximately 4 stops faster. The 150-500mm lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focusing capability. A removable tripod socket is included as a standard accessory. The Pentax and Sony versions of the Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens will be available from the end of March.

Canon has released a new firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II, which fixes a bug in the previous version. Yesterday we wrote that the recently issued firmware version 2.0.3 has caused some issues, and that Canon was working on a new update. Version 2.0.4 is now here, fixing the bug, which turns out to have been related to sound recording in movie modes C1/C2/C3. Those who already have version 2.0.3 on their cameras should update the firmware to version 2.0.4.

The Canon Digital IXUS 210 (also called the Canon Powershot SD3500 IS) joins the small but growing band of cameras that offer a graceful touch-screen interface rather than a cluttered collection of external controls. Internationally acclaimed photographer Wing Young Huie spent three years chronicling the colliding and evolving American experience on University Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. The result, “The University Avenue Project,” will open 1 May as a gallery of 500 photographs exhibited in store windows and on buildings along University Avenue. At the centre of the project is a spectacular installation site where images will be projected nightly on billboard-size screens, accompanied by recorded soundtracks from local musicians and monthly live performances. “This is not only a six-mile public art exhibition,” Wing said. “This is a six-mile classroom that explores the changing cultural landscape of urban life in St. Paul.” Presented by Public Art Saint Paul, the exhibition will run through 31 October.

Canon has acknowledged that the newest firmware update for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II has “issues”. The nature of the problem has not been described in any further detail. “We have learned that some users of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR camera are experiencing issues with Firmware Update Version 2.0.3,” the company said in a statement. “We are working on a new firmware update to address these phenomena, which will be available soon.”
