EISA Recognises Panasonic’s Leading Role in Consumer Electronics with a record number of four EISA Awards

Wiesbaden, Germany - Panasonic, the leading brand by which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, has been selected by the Video Panel of the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) as the recipient of the prestigious “Best Product 2007-2008” award in four categories: HD-ready Plasma TV, Memory Camcorder, DVD/HDD Recorder and Compact Camera. EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organization in Europe, with a membership of fifty Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines drawn from twenty European countries.

“We are truly honored to receive these four EISA awards that were selected by many leading European journalists and experts in the consumer electronics industry. We will continue to create new innovative products and technologies that will help people realise a better quality life,” commented Joachim Reinhart, President and Chief Operating Officer of Panasonic Europe.

Panasonic’s TH-42PV70/PX70 VIERA models received the “European HD-ready Plasma TV 2007-2008” award. The EISA judging panel stated that “for movie enthusiasts, plasma displays are still the most cinematic performers. For the perfect illustration of this point, look no further than Panasonic’s TH-42PV70 plasma display. It delivers almost perfect picture quality and most impressive of all, however, is the highly affordable price.”

Panasonic’s HDC-SD1 was selected as “European Memory Camcorder 2007-2008.” The SD-card based memory camcorder was seen by the EISA judging panel as “one of the world’s smallest and most reliable High Definition camcorders and sound is equally impressive, whereas the joystick working as a soft key makes this camcorder very easy to operate.”

The Home Theatre panel selected Panasonic’s DMR-EX87 as the “European DVD/HDD-Recorder 2007-2008.” The home theatre panel saw the DIGA DVD/HDD Recorder as a complete home entertainment solution. “It is a superb digital video recorder as well as a DVB-T-receiver and the audio reaches the same standards.” The panel’s remarks exemplify Panasonic’s achievements in the DVD/HDD recorder segment.

Panasonic’s DMC-TZ3 was recognised as “European Compact Camera 2007-2008.” The LUMIX camera was seen by the photo panel as “a very compact camera with a sharp 28-280mm zoom lens. As this covers every popular focal length, this is a great camera for traveling and for holidays. The AF system is also fast and responsive and the optical image stabiliser permits using the telephoto settings with out a tripod. The jury also noted that the ‘Traveler’ nickname was appropriate.

Panasonic as the world market and technology leader in consumer electronics is proud to receive these four Best Product awards. The 2007 EISA Awards will be presented at a special Gala Event on September 1st 2007 in Berlin at IFA.
