GOLDEN, CO (December 14, 2006)…PENTAX Imaging Company has announced two new series of spotting scopes that offer exceptional image performance for outdoor observation. The PENTAX Spotting Scope PF-63ZOOM is a compact, lightweight spotting scope perfect for outdoor viewing.  Featuring a bright field of view, rubber coating and JIS Class 6 waterproof construction, this PENTAX spotting scope uses a 63mm compact objective lens and offers increased mobility by making the eyepiece integrated with the body. Featuring Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass, the high performance PENTAX PF-65 series of spotting scopes include the PF-65ED II (straight-line type) and the PF-65ED-A II (angled type).  Each offer a high-level balance between exceptional image performance and image quality for field use or for conducting zoom photography when connected to a digital camera.

PENTAX Imaging Company will preview the new line at the 2007 SHOT SHOW®, the world’s premier exposition of firearms, ammunition, archery, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, camping and related products and services.  The PENTAX PF-63ZOOM will be available under $400 and the PENTAX PF-65EDII/PF-65ED-A II will be available under $650.  All products will ship in February 2007.

High Mobility
The PF-63Zoom spotting scope is designed to give the highest quality view in a compact, affordable body.  This lightweight scope incorporates a bright, 63mm objective lens with a 20x-50x zoom eyepiece ideal for all field applications.

Bright field of view
Full multi-coating on all lens and prism surfaces, along with the superior BaK-4 prisms allow the maximum amount of light to be transmitted through the spotting scope.

Rubber Coating
The full-body rubber coating provides the PF-63Zoom spotting scope with superb resistance to shock and impact and makes the scope easy to hold, even in damp conditions.

Waterproof Construction
The spotting scope may be used in all weather conditions due to its waterproof construction equivalent to a JIS Class 6 rating allowing them to be submerged to a depth of 3.3 feet (1 meter).*  This makes this scope ideal for viewing even in the most extreme conditions.

  *    Straight design is ideal for subject alignment and allows the subject to be easily acquired. 
  *    The target line built into the top of the scope assists in subject alignment.
  *    The unique focus knob located on the side of the spotting scope allows for quick, comfortable focus adjustment.

High image performance
The new 65mm spotting scopes have been improved over our previous models by modifying all optical systems and improving lens quality and layout.  This new optical design enhances the overall performance of the spotting scopes but specifically assures high quality results when attached to a PENTAX digital camera.

65mm objective lens
The 65mm objective lens is the perfect combination to give the maximum light gathering ability in a compact form factor.

Possible to use traditional eyepieces
The 65mm spotting scopes feature a standard 1.25 inch (31.7mm) sleeve that allows the use of a traditional zoom eyepiece as well PENTAX’s complete line of fixed eyepieces.

Angled and Straight versions
The 65mm spotting scope is available in a straight version that allows quick subject acquisition as well and in an angled version that is ideal for viewing objects at greater heights or when in a group.

Waterproof Construction
The 65mm spotting scopes can be used in all weather conditions due to their waterproof construction equivalent to a JIS Class 6 rating allowing them to be submerged to a depth of 3.3 feet (1 meter).*  This makes these scopes ideal for viewing even in the most extreme conditions.

*The scopes should not be used underwater.

Nitrogen-filled for clear field of view
The bodies of the scopes are nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging due to temperature differentials.

Additional features
  *    The target line on the hood allows for quick subject spotting.
  *    Built-in lens hood protects the lens from dust and rain and prevents internal reflections.
  *    The focus knob is placed in the middle of the top part of the body, enabling for smooth and quick operation with either hand.
  *    Incorporated tripod collar contains a click-stop rotation mechanism. This allows the observer to remain in a relaxed position, especially with the angle scope.
  *    Rubber coating allows superior resistance to impacts.
  *    Can be used as telephoto lens for a camera with a focal length of 780mm with the PF-CA35 adaptor (sold separately) and any PENTAX SLR body.
