MMD has added a new 27" IPS-AHVA display with factory-calibrated colour and Adobe RGB support to its line-up of Philips branded monitors. Using 10 bits to describe each colour, the new 27-inch Quad HD display can represent over one billion colours simultaneously – when connected to a PC via a DisplayPort cable. Pre-calibrated to render colours accurately, the 272P4APJKHB display supports 99% Adobe RGB and 100% of the sRGB colour space. With MultiView on board, the display connects to multiple sources simultaneously. The new Philips monitor is now available in major electronics stores at a suggested retail price of £649.

Philips monitor with Adobe RGB technology ensures colour consistency for professionals

• 27-inch display with PerfectKolor pre-calibration for Adobe RGB support

• Colour precision throughout the entire production workflow

• Accurate, high-resolution images thanks to 10-bit colours, SmartUniformity and Philips Flicker-Free Technology

Amsterdam, 15 January 2015: MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, today announced a new 27-inch IPS-AHVA display with factory-calibrated colour support across the Adobe RGB colour space. With the wide gamut of Adobe RGB, the display can reproduce over one billion colours with near-total fidelity, giving professional users the confidence that the colours on the display are consistent with industry standards – for colour precision throughout the entire production workflow.

In graphic design, geophysical exploration, digital prepress and post-production, there is no room for a display that gets creative on how it represents colours. Uniformity and accuracy are critical. “Having a colour standard is like speaking the same language,” says Thomas Schade, Vice President EMEA at MMD. “Professional users need to be certain their display speaks the same colour language as their printers and other devices in the workflow. The new Philips LCD display renders colours with unfailing accuracy every time.”

PerfectKolor – colour standards to rely on

Pre-calibrated to render colours accurately, the 272P4APJKHB display supports 99 % Adobe RGB and 100% sRGB colour space, eliminating the process of matching colours across multiple devices.  Moreover, with six-axis adjustment, PerfectKolor enables the display colours to be fine-tuned to precise requirements.

10-bit colours

Using 10 bits to describe each colour, the new 27-inch display can represent over one billion colours simultaneously – differences that are indistinguishable to the human eye. The resulting images are smooth and natural, without gradations or colour banding.

SmartUniformity

Fluctuations in brightness and colour on different areas of the screen are a common phenomenon. With SmartUniformity metrics, the display auto-adjusts to compensate for these differences, and delivers average luminance uniformity in excess of 95 % - vital for consistency in colour-critical applications such as photography and scientific imaging.

Flicker-Free Technology

Due to the way brightness is controlled on LED-backlit screens, users sometimes experience screen flicker. The potential eye fatigue is anathema to accurate work with detail-rich images. Philips Flicker-Free Technology is an innovative solution to regulate brightness and reduce flicker for a more comfortable viewing experience.

Complementing its colour capabilities, the new IPS-AHVA display is also designed to measure up to the challenges of everyday office work – featuring a webcam and speakers, crystal-clear Quad HD images at 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1080 resolution, an extra-wide viewing angle for image clarity from nearly any perspective, and the tilt-and-swivel flexibility of the SmartErgoBase. With MultiView on board, the display connects to multiple sources simultaneously, enabling users to view a notebook feed on one part of the screen, for example, and data from the camera on the other.

The new Philips display is now available in major electronics stores at a suggested retail price of GBP 649.
