Good, better, Phixr: Re-launched and celebrated

The popular web-based photo editor www.phixr.com, a pioneer web 2.0 application created already back in April 2006, was re-launched today, featuring a re-worked interface and more server power to handle user demand. The company celebrated the occasion in London.

Stockholm, Sweden (PRWEB) October 5, 2009 - Flock55 today announced the re-launch of their popular web-based photo editor phixr.com. The site has undergone a redesign and was moved to a new server farm in Germany. The company celebrated the event last weekend in London, following its expansion to the UK in May this year.

“Back in 2006, we started the project more or less as a hobby”, said Thomas Winischhofer, founder of Flock55 and now major shareholder and board member, in his speech at the celebrations in front of more than 400 guests. “Today we are within the top 5 in this area. I am proud of this success, especially considering the complete absence of venture capital in our company.”

The phixr.com photo editor was created in 2006 and quickly gained audience because of its new-style interface, which came close to what was known and common for desktop applications.

“We clearly underestimated user demand three years ago”, a company spokesman told PRWEB. “Our servers were at their limits. Working with several thousand photos simultaneously was far beyond our expectations. The new server farm was over-due and is prepared for further growth.”

Phixr.com offers a full palette of interactive tools to manipulate photo files online. The power of site also lies in its tight integration of popular photo-sharing and social-networking sites, such as Facebook, flickr and Twitter.

“The secret to our success is to listen to our users. We constantly extended our selection of tools to accommodate our user groups”, the company wrote in a press release. “We now know that, for example, many of our users love to make comics out of their photos. Phixr is their ideal tool, offering special effects for creating a neat comic-book-style and speech-bubbles.”

Flock55 is specialized in B2B graphical applications. Phixr.com is their only consumer product.
