PHOTOGRAPHY WILL ALWAYS BE A LESSER MEDIUM THAN PAINT

Photography is accessible, quotidian and disposable, consumed and discarded in the space of a click and a flash. It is created by technicians, not artists. It presents facts devoid of insight, and even in this respect is fatally undermined by the ease, and prevalence, of digital manipulation.

Yet are these views as anachronistic as the artist with his easel and paintbrush, flailing to capture a scene as the world accelerates around him? Join the debate, as Intelligence Squared gathers masters of both mediums for a contemporary exploration of a historically fraught relationship.

WHEN Monday November 1st, 2010
Doors open at 6.15pm. The event will begin at 7.00pm and finish at 8.30pm.
