Picstop Press Release
Online retailer takes internet trading to a brand new level
Picstop, the online digital accessory specialist, has launched a pioneering new website which it claims sets new benchmarks for online trading in the sector.
A new ‘product finder’ option enables customers to browse tens of thousands of items including cameras, phones, pdas and camcorders – and instantly provides information about all compatible products such as memory cards, batteries, chargers and cables. And within weeks the new-look site will also allow customers to make instant price comparisons with competitors and access totally independent reviews of its trading efficiency.
Paul Nuttall, MD at The Isle of Man and Channel islands-based company, explained: “Over ten years we’ve built a multi-million pound turnover business based on the principles of highly competitive pricing, speed of delivery and unmatched customer service.
We’ve spent months planning our website relaunch, which within weeks, will offer all our customers the chance to compare prices with competitors in real time and, using the brilliant new ‘Trustpilot’ review site, they can also review what people are saying about us, good or bad – completely independently.
It is common knowledge that many companies seed their blogs and websites with positive comments about their own businesses, but we have absolutely nothing to hide. We are so confident in our trading reputation that we are offering site visitors a carte blanche, ‘wartsand-all’ monitoring advantage.”
The Picstop trading model allows its customers to take advantage of an EU VAT directive enabling goods to be dispatched from The Channel Islands VAT free if they are under £18 in value.
Added Nuttall: “By trading from warehouses in both the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man we can offer the best of both worlds. Customers buying smaller items like memory cards can buy them completely VAT free from the Jersey base - but they will have a slightly slower delivery times. If they buy the same products from our Isle of Man warehouse VAT is payable, but we can supply the goods faster – including next day delivery options.”
Now the company, which sells a comprehensive range of accessories for the photographic and mobile phone markets, including ink cartridges, MP3 players, camera bags and tripods, plans to develop more specialist lines – and build on its sophisticated online feedback communication channel to make sure it continues to provide the full service its customers demand.
Said Nuttall: “We are and will remain primarily an internet business but we are also seen as a mail order company. Customers can go to the site and use it as a brochure rather than an immediate buying tool. The new site offers outstanding searchability and visitors can browse our product lines and then either email or phone us if they need more information or unbiased advice. We may be internet based but we are easily contactable – unlike some online businesses. We believe we are taking online trading to a brand new level.”
