Fotolia Supplies Images for Popular Photography’s 2006 Digital Wizard Contest

NEW YORK, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/—Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.com), the global online social marketplace for stock digital images is partnering with Popular Photography & Imaging Magazine for the publication’s 2006 Digital Wizard Contest by providing the photos which entrants will be required to manipulate in order to create new images.

Creative hobbyists, professionals, and students can participate in the Digital Wizard contest for the chance to win a $1,000 grand prize and have the entry published in the July 2006 issue of Popular Photography & Imaging and posted on the magazine’s website. Entrants are required to use elements from at least four of 12 pre-selected photos, adding only filters or plug-ins, but no other images. The deadline for entries is midnight, March 31, 2006. For more information about the contest, see http://www.popphoto.com.

“The Digital Wizard Contest is a great example of bringing together digital photographers and graphic designers which is the objective of the Fotolia community. The images that have been selected for use are of professional quality submitted by Fotolia members and we are proud to be partnered with such an influential publication for the imaging community,” stated Oleg Tscheltzoff, President and Cofounder of Fotolia.

“Fotolia offers a wide range of images, and gives amateur photographers an opportunity to share—and even sell—their work,” said John Owens, Editor in Chief of Popular Photography & Imaging. “The photos provided by Fotolia for the Digital Wizard contest are excellent raw material for some very creative image editing, and we’re eager to see how they’re used by the contestants.”
Launched in early November 2005, Fotolia’s digital image marketplace already has acquired more than 285,000 images in its database and 26,000 international members.
