Raspberry Pi Announces $25 Camera Board

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the upcoming release of a basic camera module priced at $25. Featuring a tiny back-illuminated CMOS sensor with 5 million photosites and a pixel pitch of 1.4µm, the camera module is capable of capturing five-megapixel stills as well as Full HD movies through the integrated fixed-focus lens. The exact availability of the Raspberry Pi imaging module has yet to be confirmed, but the company says the launch is “at least a month away.”
