Final call for 2012 RHS Photographic Competition entries

Entries can be submitted online at www.rhs.org.uk/photocompetition

Time is running out to enter the RHS Photographic Competition and stand the chance of winning £1,000. Amateur and professional photographers of all ages should submit their entries online by 31 August 2012.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK’s leading gardening charity, is searching for the most inspirational and creative garden photography. Entries will be shortlisted by a panel of judges and the winner will be crowned RHS Photographer of the Year; claiming the top prize of £1,000.

Visitors to RHS Shows this year will have the chance to submit photographs of fond memories, and there is still a chance to visit RHS Gardens for inspiration. Entries, however, can be from a vast range of settings. There is a selection of adult categories from wildlife and people in the garden to plant portraits. Children and young photographers are also invited to compete for the coveted title RHS Young Photographer of the Year, and to win prizes including a digital camera and photographic vouchers.

Stephen Webb, 2011 RHS Photographer of the Year, said: “Winning the competition last year was amazing. It led to some great experiences, including an appearance on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, an interview on BBC radio and talks at local photography clubs. I thoroughly encourage photographers, whatever their skill level, to grab their cameras, get outdoors and start capturing images for this year’s competition.”

The RHS Photographic Competition is supported by Medici Cards, offering all entrants the chance to win the Medici Cards Award and have their winning photograph published as a greetings card.
