Rollei Announces 3 Megapixel Prego da3
Rollei Press Release 18/08/04
With the launch of their new 3-megapixel Prego da3 model, Rollei are starting an entirely new line of digital cameras.
The Prego da3 is the entry model of a new family of powerful and compact, general-purpose digital cameras. With an image resolution of 3.2 megapixels, a high-quality 3x zoom lens, 5x digital zoom and both video and voice-recording options, the Prego da3 is the ideal entry-level digital camera. It will be available for ? 179 (incl. VAT) from end of August 2004.
The 3.2-megapixel camera has a high-performance D-VarioApogon HFT zoom lens offering focal lengths from 36 mm right up to 108 mm (equivalent to 35mm photography). This 3x optical zoom is enhanced by a 5x digital zoom.
An LCD monitor with a diagonal of 1.8” (61k Pixel) leaves ample space for creative framing. In addition, there is an optical real-image zoom finder. Focus is automatically controlled within a range of 0.5 m to infinity. And for close-ups, there is a macro setting covering a range from 15 to 50 cm.
A host of features leave ample creative opportunities: Exposure may either be program-controlled automatically or manually in one-third increments from + to ?2.0 EV. There is a choice of center-weighted average, multizone or spot metering. White balance with Auto plus presets for daylight, cloudy, tungsten and fluorescent ensures perfect color balance. The built-in flash offers Auto, fill-in, Off and red-eye reduction modes.
Either single frames or continuous shooting with two frames in a row are possible. The built-in self-timer has a delay of 10 s.
A special bonus is the movie mode of the Prego da3, which allows the recording of short video clips with 18 frames plus sound. For this purpose, the camera has an integral loudspeaker and microphone. The videos or stills are recorded as AVI or JPEG (EXIF 2.2) files in the 16MB internal memory or, alternatively, on SD or MM cards. A USB 1.1 interface and a video output (NTSC, PAL) serve for connection to a PC or TV set..
