Rollei Prego da34Rollei Press Release 18/08/04

The Rollei Prego da4 is the second new model in a versatile line of Rollei digital cameras.

By comparison with the entry-level model Prego da3, the Prego da4 has even more to offer: A 4.1-megapixel CCD is a sound basis for high-quality prints up to A4 size; a 3x D-VarioApogon zoom lens and a 3.3x digital zoom let you zoom in on your subject, and a video mode captures even moving images. The Prego da4 will be available for ? 249 (incl. VAT) from September 2004.

4.1 million pixels, a high-performance 3x D-VarioApogon zoom lens 5.6-16.8mm (equivalent to approx. 36-108 mm in 35mm photography) with maximum apertures of f/2.8-4.9 and a 3.3x digital zoom are the heart of this powerful but compact digital camera from the new Prego series. Focusing is controlled automatically from 0.5 m to infinity; a macrofocus setting takes care of subject distances as short as 15 ? 50 cm.

A 1.8-inch TFT color monitor (61k pixels) and an optical real-image zoom viewfinder make precise framing a cinch.

Apart from automatic modes for flash, exposure compensation and white balance, the Prego da4 offers a number of manual settings for greater creative freedom. It is thus possible to compensate exposure manually in one-third increments over +/-2.0 EV. The white balance also has presets for daylight, cloudy sky, tungsten or fluorescent light. The integral flash can be set for either fill-in, off or red-eye reduction. But the Prego da4 also offers a choice of metering methods: centerweighted average is supplemented by multizone and spot metering.

For even greater creative freedom, there is a self-timer with a delay of either 2 or 10 s. And in addition to single frames, the Prego da4 will also shoot continuously at an impressive five frames.

To capture those special moments you might wish to share with your friends in the form of video clips, the Prego da4 has a video mode as well as a built-in microphone and loudspeaker. As a result, video clips can be recorded with 20 images per second and 320 x 240 pixels, complete with sound. An internal memory of 16 MB offers sufficient storage space for recording still images and video clips in JPEG (EXIF 2.2), AVI und DPOF 1.1 formats. If you need even more storage space or wish to have your image data immediately available on a separate storage medium, you may use an SD or MultiMedia card. Alternatively, the stills and videos can be downloaded to a computer or TV set via a USB 2.0 or video interface (NTSC, PAL).
