Rollei’s new Designline digital photo frames double as E-book readers, and offer extended functionality including music and video playback. The Designline 3106 (€149.95) has a 10.4-inch screen and features Wi-Fi connectivity for e-mailing pictures and listening to Internet radio stations. A particularly convenient feature is the special battery docking station, which also doubles as the frame’s stand. The ultra-slim frame offers a resolution of 800x600 pixels.The Rollei Designline 3085 (also €149.95, pictured) offers the same resolution on a 8-inch screen, and comes equipped with stereo loudspeakers and touch-key controls. The portable Designline 3086 (again €149.95) has a similar display and closely resembles an E-book reader. This portable picture frame plays slide shows in different speeds and with ten different picture transition effects. Last but not least the Rollei Designline 3080 (€69.95) is a stylish black frame with an 8-inch display that has a battery which lasts for up to five hours.

Trade show preview: Rollei’s new Designline picture frames

E-book, radio, video and music player — Rollei’s new digital picture frames from the ‘Designline’ offer much more than “just” portable slide show enjoyment. At the IFA and Photokina 2010 trade shows, Rollei is presenting the new Designline family, which is sure to catch the eye with its stylish, gleaming design and numerous extra features. All the new Designline models feature a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which lasts for 3 to 5 hours depending on the model, and makes them particularly versatile to use. The Picture Rotation function is also a practical feature. When the picture frame is turned, the photo displayed is automatically rotated at the same time.

The new Designline 3106 digital picture frame is a true all-round talent. This chic 10.4 inch TFT-LCD frame not only shows photos and videos, but it also provides a relaxing way of browsing through the latest e-books. Furthermore, it also features WLAN, an extra function for e-mailing photos and Internet radio. It plays back MP3s via the integrated stereo loudspeakers or alternatively via headphones. The display resolution of 800x600 pixels and the aspect ratio of 4:3 combine to ensure brilliant colours and perfectly presented pictures. The Rollei Designline 3085 will also making its debut at these trade shows. This 8-inch frame has a resolution of 800x600 pixels and features a TFT-LC display. In addition to its function as a digital photo album, it also plays videos and MP3s. The integrated stereo loudspeakers ensure the background music played to holiday photo shows has the right sound. The integral lithium-ion rechargeable battery lasts for up to three hours and is charged, as with the sister model Designline 3106, using the user-friendly battery docking station. This ultra-slim digital frame (just 6.5mm to 9.5mm deep) with touch-key controls will be available in shops from mid-October 2010. The RRP is € 79.95.

With its Designline 3086 Portable, Rollei is presenting a highly versatile 8-inch TFT?LCD. This model is particularly impressive due to its ability to be used as an e?book, making it a perfect companion on long journeys. Featuring a resolution of 800x600 pixels and control options for the contrast and brightness, it is possible to optimally adjust the picture quality to suit every lighting situation. This portable picture frame plays slide shows in different speeds and with ten different picture transition effects. Other additional functions such as WLAN, Internet radio and weather forecast go to complete the versatile range of features this frame offers, not to mention a battery that lasts for up to three hours. The frame is controlled by a push-button menu along the bottom edge of the screen. The black frame in a black leather cover will be available from late-October 2010 for a RRP of € 149.95.

Like its brothers and sisters, the Designline 3080 also displays photos and videos in a 4:3 aspect ratio. On a screen measuring 20.32 cm (8 inches), it is possible to arrange the latest holiday photos into a slide show — with background music as well if desired, as the Designline 3080 also features a function for playing back audio files in MP3 and WMA formats. In addition to the integrated stereo loudspeakers, a headphone connection is also available for optimal music enjoyment. With a battery that lasts for up to five hours, it is possible to use this stylish black frame, which additionally features a clock, calendar and alarm function, even without a mains lead. The frame will be available in shops from early-October 2010 for € 69.95 (RRP).
