THE ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY’S 149th INTERNATIONAL PRINT EXHIBITION TO GO TO UKRAINE

The Royal Photographic Society’s esteemed 149th International Print Exhibition is to spend a month in the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev. The initiative is being supported and funded by the British Council, http://www.britishcouncil.org/ukraine-arts-149th-international-print-exhibition.htm, enabling the exhibition to be displayed in the Ukraine from 18th May until 17th June 2007 with a press conference on 15th May.

The 149th International Print Exhibition has now finished its UK tour where it was seen by over 50,000 people and received consistently positive feedback from the venues and from visitors to the Exhibition.

The Royal Photographic Society is the foremost photographic society in the world and has staged its International Print Exhibition almost every year since its formation in 1853, making it the longest running in the world. The Exhibition has built up an internationally renowned reputation for its exciting breadth of genres and styles, from the artistic to documentary, from portraiture to natural history and this will be the first time that it will be on display in Eastern Europe.

Photography in Ukraine began to flourish in the seventies with its new acceptance as an art form that required passion and vision, and it is with great pleasure that Professor Ralph Jacobson, President of the RPS, will be presenting a Master class on ‘Image quality: a scientists view’ at the Kyiv Photofair on 16th May (http://www.photofair.com.ua/index_eng.html).
