The Royal Photographic Society ANNOUNCES 2009 WORkSHOPS

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has released dates for the first half of its 2009 workshop programme.  Running from January to April, a number of exciting additions have been introduced to the already packed schedule.

New for this year is the exciting ‘Fashion Photography’ workshop. Participants will have the amazing opportunity to work in a professional studio with a fashion photographer and models, during the one day course.

Working in partnership with Cheltenham Photo Studios, attendees will be presented with four very different environments to work in and shown how each requires specialised knowledge and experience.  The variety of shots taken throughout the day will then be critiqued by the tutor.  The workshop costs £98 and will take place on Saturday 17th January and Saturday 14th March from 10am-5pm.

Another new addition to the 2009 programme is the ‘Product Photography’ workshop; ideal for anyone interested in product photography, whether it is for their own or commercial use. Also held at Cheltenham Photo Studios, participants will experience three different types of product photography, learning techniques and styles that are appropriate to each.  The one day workshop will run on Saturday 21st February and Saturday 25th April from 10am-5pm and costs £98.

The RPS has also introduced two business focused workshops, providing comprehensive tutorials on the commercial role photography can play and key techniques to help drive businesses forward.

‘Creating an Image for Business’ will be held in partnership with Business Link on Thursday 19th March from 5.30-7.45pm.  Aimed at any those who are running or working for a creative company, this workshop will give the opportunity to re-energise a business.  From finding out how Business Link can help market and finance a business, to tips on how to make the most of a website through visual impact, layout and content, this workshop covers it all.

‘Going Freelance’ is the second workshop in this field, and is ideal for both freelance and assistant photographers.  Aimed at participants at all stages of their career, from those just starting out to experienced professionals who would just like a refresher, this one day course includes a series of lectures on topics from copyright and PR, to CV writing, marketing and sales for professional photographers.  The workshop will take place on Thursday 30th April from 10.15 am-4.00pm.  The cost is £25 and includes lunch.

For further information on all workshops, visit www.rps.org/workshops or contact The Society on 01225 325733, [email protected].  All workshops are open to members and non-members of The Society, and are held at the RPS headquarters in Bath unless otherwise stated.
