The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Young Photographer Awards is stuill open for entries, but the final submission deadline is getting closer and closer. The overall winner of this year’s competition will win £1,000 worth of Olympus vouchers. This is in addition to the range of Olympus cameras on offer to the winners of categories including under 12 years, 12 to 18 years, pet personalities and the Olympus portfolio prize. The overall winner, picked from those who scoop the category titles, will also be given the chance to join the RSPCA’s award-winning chief photographer Andrew Forsyth on an exclusive photoshoot. Previous winners have been able to capture the magic of a seal release with their new cameras, while last year’s overall winner 12-year-old Molly Armiger enjoyed a day out helping release rehabilitated ducks and hedgehogs at the RSPCA’s East Winch Wildlife Centre. Snap The Perfect Pic And Scoop £1,000 Worth Of Camera Kit

Thousands of entries have poured in to the RSPCA’s Young Photographer Awards (YPA 09), but there is still time to put yourself in the frame to win the top prize of £1,000 worth of Olympus vouchers.

Whether it is a chance encounter with a cheeky chaffinch or a carefully planned pet portrait, your snaps could bag you the top prize along with one of a brilliant array of prizes, courtesy of competition sponsors Olympus and Warners Midlands.

With a few weeks of the school holidays still left, there couldn’t be a better time to get out and about with your camera to search out the winning shot.

The overall winner of this year’s competition will win a fantastic £1,000 worth of Olympus vouchers. This is in addition to the dazzling range of top Olympus cameras on offer to the winners of categories including under 12 years, 12 to 18 years, pet personalities and the Olympus portfolio prize.

This year will also see the launch of the Sunday Express People’s Choice Award as part of YPA 09, which will give people the chance to vote for their favourite image from the pet personalities category shortlist.

The overall winner, picked from those who scoop the category titles, will also be given the chance to join the RSPCA’s award-winning chief photographer Andrew Forsyth on an exclusive photoshoot. Judges for this year’s competition include BBC Countryfile presenter Matt Baker and award winning wildlife photographer Danny Green.

Andrew Forsyth, who will also be on the judging panel, said: “The standard of entries so far this year is simply staggering and, with such a fantastic array of prizes on offer, I think the 2009 RSPCA Young Photographer Awards is the one to win.”

The judges will be looking for imaginative and stunning images that capture everything from household pets, to farm animals and wildlife.

It couldn’t be easier for budding photographers to put themselves in the frame for the prize, by uploading images at the YPA 09 website www.rspca.org.uk/ypa.

The RSPCA Young Photographer Awards has become an impressive source of talent, which showcases the flair of some of the best young pet and wildlife photographers in Britain. This year is set to be no different with the outstanding standard making YPA 09 as prestigious as many adult competitions.
