Samsung UK Press Release

Samsung is announcing the new Digimax L60. Part of the L series featuring sleek designs and user-friendly advanced features, the L60 features a 3x optical zoom SHD lens, a 5x digital zoom and a large 2.4-inch color LCD display. Set to hit the shelves in March the Samsung L60 is perfect for those who demand easy to use features and high quality optics. The Samsung L60 packs advanced features such as MPEG4 into a sleek, stylish body. MPEG-4 is a high-compression, high-quality video format, which can record up to 4 times longer than traditional video formats commonly used in other digital cameras. This means the user can record in VGA (640x480) at 30fps, for smoother video and a bigger view of the movie on LCD and TV screens.

Users can also take advantage of the camera’s advanced movie shooting functions, including a movie stabiliser, continuous video recording, improved in-camera video editing and the ability to use the 3x optical zoom while recording.

The movie stabiliser helps reduce camera shake by automatic detection and correction of lateral and vertical camera vibrations; and continuous video recording allows the shooter to pause and resume video recording at any time and merge multiple video files into one single file.  Users can also save a selected part of a movie as a new file during playback and capture a still image during video playback.

Special effects functions for creative control in-camera, include Colour Effect, Highlight, Photo Frame, Negative and Composite Shot.  Colour effects include B/W, sepia, blue, green and red.

11 scene modes adjust the camera’s settings to give you crystal-clear images under various shooting conditions including: Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow and Text Recognition.  Continuous shooting is also available to record consecutive action shots.

The built-in image editing function allows users to edit images without the use of a PC.  The Trimming function can be used to cut an undesired part of an image and save only the required part.

The Auto Macro function ensures the clarity of images regardless of shooting range by automatically adjusting shooting distance and focus.  By using the macro button, users can set the camera to automatically adjust distance and focus from between 5cm to infinity.

A 32MB built-in memory allows picture takers save pictures without a memory card and the Copy to Card function permits users to transfer images saved in the internal memory to an SD/MMC memory card.

Other helpful features- voice recording for up to one-hour, voice memo and “One-touch Playback” for instant playback of an image, even when the power is off.
