In a bid to demonstrate the resilience of its SD card range, Samsung UK is launching a worldwide search for 100 messages that will be loaded onto SD cards and launched in paper planes from space. There are 100 planes to personalise and members of the public are encouraged to submit details that can be uploaded onto each card like pictures of themselves, family and friends, greetings for the person that finds it and something which expresses themselves. Once all the SD cards have been filled, they will be slotted into specially designed, bright paper planes which will include greetings in several different languages. The SD cards will then be launched as a flotilla of 100 paper planes into the atmosphere from space. Interested readers should check out the website below.

SAMSUNG SEARCHES WORLD FOR MESSAGES TO LAUNCH FROM SPACE

Samsung SD cards launched from space to prove their resilience

Samsung Electronics UK Ltd is launching a worldwide search for 100 messages that will be loaded onto SD cards and launched in paper planes from space. The ground-breaking viral campaign aims to demonstrate the resilience of its SD card range in the world’s highest paper plane release. When the paper planes land all over the world, those who find them will also be able to become part of the longest paper plane flight of all time.

To kick off the campaign, Samsung is inviting the public to be a part of this innovative, space-bound project by visiting http://projectspaceplanes.com/ and simply uploading any data that they would like to see launched into space via the simple upload tool. There are 100 planes to personalise and members of the public are encouraged to submit details that can be uploaded onto each card like pictures of themselves, family and friends, greetings for the person that finds it and something which expresses themselves. Entrants will be chosen at random and the website will be updated to show how many planes are left to be personalised.

Once all the SD cards have been filled, they will be slotted into specially designed, bright paper planes which will include greetings in several different languages. Each plane will be linked back to the person that submitted the information by a unique number code on the back, along with instructions for anyone who finds the plane. The SD cards will then be launched as a flotilla of 100 paper planes into the atmosphere from space – higher and further than any paper plane has ever been flown before!

This campaign shows how we can provide consumers with exciting and innovative technology to capture their memories, says Stefanie Summerfield, Head of Business development - Memory. “The Samsung memory card range offers outstanding quality and performance to satisfy users of all abilities.”

“The Samsung SD cards will have to withstand cold, heat, water, dirt, magnetism and any impacts but still work at the end of this challenge, making this a compelling and innovative venture for people from around the world to become a part of.”
