Have What It Takes To Capture A Giant?

Save the Redwoods League Launches Photo Contest to Bring Awareness of the World’s Tallest Trees to New Heights and Encourage Support for California State Parks. Submissions due to the League by June 24, 2011

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 24, 2011

Save the Redwoods League, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting ancient redwood forests throughout their natural range, today announced its online photo contest to raise awareness and protect redwood forests. The League’s Know Wonder© photo contest invites U.S. residents to capture every angle of the redwood forest, from the smallest critters inhabiting the forest floor to the magnificence of the tree canopy, for a chance to win redwood prizes. Through this photo contest the League encourages contest participants to experience one of the most unique ecosystems in the world.

1st prize: One-day interpretive tour of Redwood National Park for four from Redwood Adventures. Value: $500
2nd prize: Big Sur, California, guided day hike for two, including gourmet picnic lunch from Central Coast Outdoors. Value: $318
3rd prize: Four tickets to ride the Skunk Train through the redwoods from Willits, California. Value: $196

“Participating in Save the Redwoods League’s Know Wonder© contest is a simple way for outdoor enthusiasts, aspiring and professional photographers, and park supporters to show their support for these natural treasures and our California State Parks,” said Jennifer Benito, outreach director for Save the Redwoods League.

The League is now accepting photo submissions from the public that capture all parts of coast redwood and giant sequoia ecosystems, from sorrel and lichens, to deer and elk, to the trees, themselves. Photos of friends and family enjoying the redwoods are encouraged. The League will select 12 finalists, and public voting will determine contest winners.

For contest rules and information, please visit the League online at SaveTheRedwoods.org/contest. All photo submissions and completed contest forms must be received by June 24, 2011 at 5:00 pm. No late submissions will be accepted. Winners will be notified via e-mail.
