Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS HSM Named Best Expert Lens

The Sigma APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM has won a TIPA award for being the best “expert” lens in 2011. Announced a year ago, the Sigma APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM lens contains two of the company’s new “F” Low Dispersion (FLD) glass elements and comes with optical image stabilisation as well as a HyperSonic Motor for quiet auto focus. Constructed of 22 elements in 17 groups, the lens has a filter thread size of 77mm and has an iris diaphragm with 9 rounded blades for smooth bokeh. Like most Sigma lenses, the APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM is available for a number of different SLR systems, including Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sigma and Sony/Minolta.

SIGMA APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM receives TIPA Best Expert Lens Award.

The Sigma Corporation (COO: Kazuto Yamaki) is pleased to announce that the SIGMA APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM, a large aperture telephoto zoom lens optimized for use with the latest digital SLR camera and incorporating Sigma’s original OS function, has won the “TIPA Best Expert Lens” award. This lens was introduced to market in July 2010.

This bright, high quality telephoto zoom lens contains 22 elements (including 3 SLD and 2 FLD glass elements) in 17 groups. The lens is designed to cover 24x36mm ”full-frame”sensors and has an optical image stabilisation system (OS) that compensates approximately four stops. Its HSM function assures smooth and silent auto focusing. Chromatic aberration is reduced to a minimum and sharpness is at a very high level over the entire focal length range.
