Note for ISO50

This firmware upgrade provides users with the ability to capture images at low-noise levels. However, unlike the SD14’s ISO 100 and above settings, ISO 50 has less headroom. This means photographers need to work a bit more carefully.

To use the ISO 50 setting for the best results, Sigma advises its photographers to pay attention to the following points.

  * The ISO 50 is only available when the camera is set for Extended Mode.
  * Please meter accurately when using ISO 50. The camera’s built-in metering system will produce excellent results under most conditions. In high dynamic range settings, however, we advise using the center meter and taking a reading of the brightest part of the image. You can then adjust the EV by one or two stops to account for the brightness of that object.
  * Sigma recommends using manual mode for shooting. In critical landscape settings where ISO 50 provides exceptional detail with little noise, we advise using manual (M) mode to shoot. Meter carefully and then adjust the settings after taking a test shot and reviewing the histogram.
  * For subjects with a normal range, Sigma recommends using P, A, or S. Under normal circumstances, the camera will produce exceptional results using matrix metering and the camera’s normal automatic functions. If conditions require it, you may wish to adjust the EV setting to -0.3 for a little more protection of the highlights.

ISO50 can provide the exceptional result with the fine details and the lower noise. We hope all the photographers enjoy shooting the high quality images at ISO50.

  1. Corrects the phenomenon of the intermittent camera freeze with Err message in the top LCD panel under certain conditions.
  2. Corrects the problems related with video output display and functionality.
  3. Corrects the display problem for the number of remaining shots on the CF card.
  4. In the case of Mac OS 10.4.9 with Intel core processor, the SD14 was not recognized as a Removable Disk. Now the SD14 is mounted to the desktop as Removable Disk icon.

[Ver. 1.03]

  1. Corrects the intermittent camera freeze while CF CARD BUSY LIGHT is on during continuous shooting.
  2. Corrects the remaining battery power display on the top LCD panel.

[Ver. 1.02]

  1. Corrects the phenomenon that did not save the AdobeRGB from sRGB when the camera body was turned off.
  2. Improved the exposure of the built in flash.

[Ver. 1.01]

  1. Sensor cleaning can now be done by powering the camera from the battery.
Originally, sensor cleaning was only available through the dedicated AC adapter.
If the voltage level of the battery becomes lower than a certain level, the camera will emit a warning beep and will close the cleaning mode. We strongly recommend using a fully charged battery for the sensor cleaning.
  2. If using the camera in ‘A’ mode with flash photography, the selected shutter speed would either be 1/60 or 1/180sec depending on the focal length.
Now, the optimum shutter speed is selected from the range of 1/60 to 1/180sec.
  3. A slow sync mode has now been added if using the camera in ‘A’ mode with flash photography. The optimum shutter speed is selected from a range of 30sec to 1/180sec.
  4. Improved image quality when reviewing images on the rear LCD.
  5. Corrects the overexposure issue when using flash with high ISO setting under certain conditions.
  6. Corrects the incompatibility issue with some FAT16 formated large CF cards.
  7. Corrects the phenomenon of the intermittent camera freeze under certain conditions.
  8. Corrects the malfunction of wireless flash with built-in flash under certain conditions.
  9. Corrects the phenomenon that did not save the AdobeRGB setting when changed from sRGB. This was the bug in the menu display.
  10. Corrects the phenomenon that the LCD flickered under certain conditions.
  11. Corrects terminology in the Korean menu.
