SmartDisk FlashTrax Incorporates Image Histograms
SmartDisk Corporation Press Release 23/08/04
Fort Myers, Fla., August 23, 2004 - SmartDisk Corporation announced today that its FlashTrax portable, palm-sized digital multimedia device now displays histograms, the graphic representation of the range of image tones in a photograph. Histograms are especially helpful to professional photographers when reviewing digital shots on location.
“FlashTrax provides full detail on the tonal range of an image, solving one of the most challenging aspects of field photography,? said Charles Klinker, Vice President, Marketing for SmartDisk. ?Current FlashTrax owners can download this newest feature through firmware available at the SmartDisk Web site.”
FlashTrax is a palm-sized multimedia storage device integrating a hard drive, flash reader, LCD, and USB connectivity. FlashTrax safely stores high-resolution images transferred from any flash memory card onto the built-in hard drive and displays them on a 3.5? LCD. A user can change the image, zoom in, zoom out and pan, or choose a slide show function without the assistance of a PC. In addition to rapid JPEG view and zoom, FlashTrax can display most RAW format files using the JPEG data typically embedded in such files. Images may be viewed on the LCD screen or on any TV using the included remote control. FlashTrax includes a built-in MP3 player and also supports video playback of motion picture JPEG files, a format typically used for the short ?movies? supported by many digital still cameras. With USB 2.0 transfer speeds of up to 480MBps, FlashTrax can also serve as an external hard drive to transfer, store and access data or act as a simple backup device.
