Sony #XperiaSpots

Sony’s smartphone division has launched the #XperiaSpots project to inspire tourists to take better photos with their phones. The project has been initiated in partnership with Mimi Chan and Utsavi Jhaveri, who made global news earlier this year when they pinpointed the best location for tourists to capture New York and San Francisco. Sony has now brought the pair to the UK where they have applied the same painstaking process to three cities here. Chan and Jahven have placed distinctive ‘footstep’ marks near the most photographed places in London, Manchester, and Birmingham including the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, The Birmingham Library, and The Beetham Tower. London, July 29th 2014 – A new initiative from Sony aims to make dodgy tourist snaps a thing of the past, by locating and marking the ideal position to capture landmarks in cities across the UK.
Distinctive ‘footstep’ marks have appeared near the most photographed places in London, Manchester, and Birmingham including the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, The Birmingham Library, and The Beetham Tower.
Sony’s smartphone division is behind the project, and wants to inspire smartphone photographers to share their own #XperiaSpots for a chance to win the latest Sony smartphone photography tech.

Matt Beavis, Head of PR & Social Media at Sony Mobile (North West Europe) said: "At the height of summer, many of us are out there capturing cities on our smartphones. Our latest handset - the Xperia Z2 - boasts the world’s best camera in a waterproof smartphone. We've got the tech but it’s about going beyond this and helping people to make the most of it. Now with #XperiaSpots, we want to help people capture the best images possible."
Utsavi Jhaveri said "Photography doesn't have to be complicated. A good smartphone, the right location and a good eye is enough to take amazing photos. My number one tip is that if you're in a crowd of people, all with their cameras out, don't take a picture there. Moving away and finding a different angle is a quick way to create something unique to you."
