Spectacular Landscapes Photography Competition
The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers have announced the winners of the Spectacular Landscapes Photography Competition.
For this month's competition we looked for entries that depict incredible vistas; these may be a mountain range, seascapes or cityscapes, and we were certainly not disappointed.
Adrian Rohnfelder from Bad Homburg, Germany’s image was chosen from over 370 images entered.
Adrian tells us “I took the picture during a three weeks trip to some of the active volcanoes of East Java, Indonesia. The volcano in the background of the picture is Mount Semeru (3.676) which we have climbed the days before visiting the Tengger Caldera/ massif. I took the picture in the early morning a few minutes after sunrise.
The Tengger massif for me is one of the most impressive landscapes on our planet. It feels a bit like Jurrasic Parc and you’ll get a good idea how earth has looked like millions of years before! After we also climbed Mount Bromo and circled the whole crater rim.”
Adrian has won 12 months membership to The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP). Phil Jones, The Societies CEO says, “A powerful image that shows the supremacy of Mother Nature at it best.”
He continues, “The competition had a very high standard which made judging very difficult, the range of entries was very broad and we have seen everything from the Northern Lights to glorious sunsets.”
2nd place was Hamish Burson from New Zealand and joint 3rd places were Lisa Katharina Schaefer from New Zealand and Tomasz Janicki from Worcestershire all been awarded 6 months membership to the SINWP photographic organisation.
