The world’s most renowned outdoor and adventure photographers will share their art and their passion at Telluride’s inaugural Photography Festival, 20-26 September 2010. Telluride Presents its First Photography Festival - An Inspiring Event to Culminate the Vibrant Telluride, Colorado Festival Season

Art and photography have been long synonymous with Telluride, Colorado. The town also has a long-standing reputation as the festival capital of Colorado with a rich and varied summer event calendar. The Telluride Photo Festival, in association with the Ah Haa School for the Arts, seeks to combine these two elements into a week long event that celebrates photography, art, nature, learning, and commerce in the beauty that is Telluride.

(PRWEB) January 4, 2010—The world’s most renowned outdoor and adventure photographers will share their art and their passion at Telluride’s inaugural Photography Festival September 20 - 26, 2010. The weeklong event, geared toward professional and experienced amateur photographers, is timed just right for photographers to capture the changing fall light and the aspens turning gold and blaze orange.

The Festival will feature field classes and photography workshops, seminars, portfolio reviews, and exhibits. “We are so excited to bring this new event to Telluride, one of the great festival venues in the nation,” said event organizer and photographer Eric Moore. “We have some of the best known landscape, nature, adventure, and sports photographers coming to Telluride to teach their art and share their photography for an entire week,” Moore said.

The Photography Festival is teaming up with the Ah Haa School for the Arts. The Ah Haa School is a community center of learning and culture and a Telluride icon for nearly two decades. The invited faculty teaching workshops, taking part of symposium discussions, and conducting portfolio reviews include internationally distinguished outdoor photographers:

Pulitzer Prize winner and National Geographic photographer, Jack Dykinga’s work has been featured in Arizona Highways, Audubon, Harpers, Sunset, Time, Outdoor Photographer, in addition to many other publications.

Robert Glenn Ketchum is one of the best-known nature and landscape photographers working today. Acknowledged by Audubon Magazine as one of the 100 people “who shaped the environmental movement of the 20th Century” and also served as Curator of Photography for the National Park Foundation for 15 years. Ketchum’s work is a part of many prestigious collections and galleries.

As one of America’s most published photographers, Tom Till, has had more than 100,000 images in print since 1977. Till’s images have appeared in National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, Outside Magazine, Outdoor Photographer and hundreds of other publications.

Gordon Wiltsie is one of the world’s preeminent expedition photographers and has been featured in National Geographic and many other outdoor publications on numerous occasions. He has chronicled some of the great modern explorers in Alex Lowe, Conrad Anker, Jon Krakauer, and David Breashears to name a few.

Bill Ellzey has shot editorially for National Geographic, Outside, Audubon, Outdoor Photographer and others, fine art, portraiture, sports, advertising, aerial, and stock. He also founded and directed the Western Photo Workshops in Telluride, Colo. for eleven years.

Wildlife photography team Wendy Shattil and Bob Rozinski. Wendy was named the BBC Wildlife Photographer of Year becoming the first woman to receive the honor. She was recently featured in Outdoor Photographer for her conservation photography. Bob has also won numerous awards, as well as being instrumental in getting Congress to designate the Arsenal as a National Wildlife Refuge. Both have had images published worldwide.

Kathleen Norris Cook is known as one of the top female landscape photographers. Her work includes a nationally awarded book Spirit of the San Juans, as well as many publications from Sierra Club to Outdoor Photographer Magazines.

Adventure photographer Ace Kvale has participated in twenty-five expeditions to Asia and the Himalayas. While appearing in dozens of magazines including National Geographic, Men’s Journal, Outside and others, his career has turned toward philanthropic photography.

Fine artist Joni Sternbach has work in some of the nation’s most prestigious public collections and galleries in the country. Joni was a featured artist in the New York Photo Festival in 2009, and recently had her SurfLand series featured on the Cover of October 2009 PDN Magazine.

Local Telluride photographer Doug Berry has been published worldwide on dozens of covers, in feature magazine articles and in major newspapers.

Tim Kemple has had his work featured in Climbing, Rock & Ice, Outside, and others. He also does assignment photography for noted companies like The North Face, Patagonia, and Gregory.
