The Bibio x Lomography Bokeh Project

April 1, 2011 | Zoltan Arva-Toth | General | Comment |

British music producer Bibio has partnered up with Lomography for a project that celebrates the release of his new album, ‘Mind Bokeh’. The idea of bokeh is infused throughout the kaleidoscopic new album – particularly in the sound and artwork. In Bibio’s own words; “I’m a lover of photography so I discovered the word bokeh through a photographer friend. The word sounded unusual in itself which attracted me, but I liked the idea of applying its context to something other than photography.” His Lomography collaboration starts with a series of his shots using Lomography’s Diana F+ camera and equipment, and a guide to achieving the bokeh effect on film. The idea of bokeh (the blurred or unfocussed points of light in an image) is infused throughout the kaleidoscopic, neon new album – particularly in the sound and artwork. In his own words; “I’m a lover of photography so I discovered the word bokeh through a photographer friend. The word sounded unusual in itself which attracted me, but I liked the idea of applying its context to something other than photography, such as psychology or just mental perception in general. I’ve always loved seeing bokeh in films, like the intro in Taxi Driver.”

Bibio (aka Stephen Wilkinson)’s Lomography collaboration starts with a series of his shots using Lomography’s Diana F+ camera and equipment, and a guide to achieving the bokeh effect on film.

There is also the chance to win an amazing bundle of prizes from Bibio and Lomography, including rare Bibio vinyl, t-shirts and cameras. Bibio himself will select the winning photographs from thousands of bokeh inspired images, all individually shot by Lomography and Bibio fans across the world.

Finally, Lomography are offering ‘Excuses’, a track from the forthcoming album for free download – a first for the site.

“Anyone that enjoyed (Bibio’s last album) ‘Ambivalence Avenue’ will be pleased to know he’s still on top form.” – NME.com
“Like its predecessor, Mind Bokeh is a superbly-crafted gem” **** The Skinny
