The Caravan Gallery Launch Latest Book Using Lumix G1 Technology

Panasonic’s Lumix cameras have been used to capture 109 extraordinary images for The Caravan Gallery’s latest book, IS BRITAIN GREAT? 2. The Caravan Gallery is a mobile exhibition and visual arts project run by artists Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale who are on a mission to record the ordinary and extraordinary details of life in 21st century Britain.Looking carefully at cultural trends and paying attention to juxtapositions, the pair take a detailed glance at today’s society asking the question is Britain really that great?

Looking at everything from concrete buildings to religious works of art, Williams and Teasdale are adamant that “what you see depends on where you stand.” Toying with the concept of perspective, Lumix cameras have helped to inspire some of the most bizarrely intriguing pictures; for instance towering piles of plastic bags make for a colourful display on a London street proving that not everything is as it seems.

Panasonic’s relationship with Williams and Teasdale began with the purchase of the DMC-FZ30 camera. The pair now use the latest generation Lumix DMC-G1 technology which is perfect for photography on the move. The G1 makes for a light weight, small and comfortable camera which also provides extremely high image quality. With interchangeable lenses and an adjustable camera strap it can be carried around all day long at complete comfort and convenience.

John Mitchell, Product Manager for D-SLR cameras at Panasonic UK said “Panasonic has been delighted to support The Caravan Gallery on its continuing quest to document the leisure pursuits, landscapes and lifestyles in 21st century Britain. This book perfectly illustrates the freedom and simplicity we wanted to bring to the D-SLR market when we launched the Lumix G Micro System last year. He adds “We have been delighted with the results they achieved using our first Lumix G camera, the G1, and hope that their new book inspires many more people to get into digital photography.” IS BRITAIN GREAT? 2 is out now - Special Web Price £12.
