Toshiba has launched the Canvio AeroCast, an HDD storage device with Wi-Fi connectivity. This new addition to Toshiba’s Canvio storage range lets you share and back-up media from mobile devices, as well as cast entertainment directly to an HDTV. The Canvio AeroCast creates its own wireless LAN network, so you don’t have to be connected to the Internet to access your content. Offering 1TB of storage, the portable Canvio AeroCast can be accessed by six devices simultaneously. With the dedicated Toshiba Wireless HDD app for Android and iOS devices, browsing, streaming or saving files on your mobile devices is even easier. The Canvio AeroCast creates its own wireless LAN network, so you don’t have to be connected to the Internet to access your content. The Canvio AeroCast wireless HDD is compatible with Microsoft Windows 8.1, 8 and 7, Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9, iOS version 6 to 7 and Android version 2.3 to 4.4. The new Canvio AeroCast, your central wireless back-up and streaming HDD

11th December 2014, London UK – Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG) Storage Peripherals Division today unveils the Canvio AeroCast, the HDD storage device with Wi-Fi connectivity. The exciting new addition to Toshiba’s Canvio storage range lets you share and back-up media from mobile devices, as well as cast entertainment directly  to an HDTV by downloading the Google Cast™ Ready app1- all wire free. The Canvio AeroCast creates its own wireless LAN network, so you don’t have to be connected to the internet to access your content.

Offering a huge 1TB2 of storage, the portable Canvio AeroCast can be accessed by six devices simultaneously - whether it’s a smartphone, a tablet or a laptop - and is a simple way for families and friends to share media across the home. With the dedicated Toshiba Wireless HDD app for Android and iOS devices, browsing, streaming or saving files on your mobile devices is even easier. The user interface includes preview images and key word search making it really fun and simple to use, and the user’s personal digital content such as movies, music and photos, can be wirelessly transmitted to your home TV for the whole family to enjoy3. Compatible with Windows, the content on the Canvio AeroCast can additionally be accessed by using the Windows Explorer.

Offering up to five hours4 battery life for continuous streaming, the Canvio AeroCast can be used “on-the-go” and can also be used with the AC-Adapter with no time-boundaries. It also features a built-in SD card slot for easy photo back-up, and the Internet Pass-Thru Mode also means browsing the web and accessing the Canvio AeroCast can be done simultaneously.
