Travel Photographer of the Year Programme Announced

Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) and the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) have announced the schedule of events that will accompany this year’s TPOTY exhibition. The exhibition itself will be held from 6th May to 10th June, and will be complemented by three days of informative and entertaining lectures and workshops, where travel and photography lovers can learn from renowned experts and immerse themselves in images, geography, history, and photographic technique. Priced at £55 per day, these include Exploring Photography and Travel (14th May), Wild Day (15th May) and People & Culture Day (5th June). A three-day ticket to cover all the events costs £140. A feast for travel and photography lovers Travel and photography workshops, lectures and advice sessions at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

With the arrival of the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) from May 6th to June 10th, London gains a fabulous new free-to-view photography exhibit. And there?s more…three days of informative and entertaining lectures and workshops, where travel and photography lovers can learn from renowned experts and immerse themselves in images, geography, history, and photographic technique. Priced at just £55 per day, these promise to be not-to-be-missed experiences for travel lovers and photography fans, that represent fantastic value for money too.

The events
Travel Photographer of the Year and the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) have brought together some of the world?s leading photographers, writers and travellers for a series of entertaining lectures, workshops and informative practical advice sessions.

There’s a great line up of speakers from the world of photography and travel for all three days, including Alexander Maitland (travel writer), Andy Rouse (wildlife photographer), Steve Bloom (travel and wildlife photographer), Michelle Jana Chan (BBC presenter and video journalist), Hugh Thompson (explorer and writer) and Jason Hawkes (aerial photographer).

• ?Exploring Photography and Travel? (14 May) focuses on travellers who love photography, with sessions on camera and photographic technique.

• Wild Day (15 May) is all about adventure, nature, wildlife, environment & landscape

• People & Culture Day (5 June) focuses on vanishing cultures, photographing people, and photographers at work.

Event attendees will also gain special access to the splendid facilities of the Society, including the Foyle Reading Room and Collections displays linked to the subject of the event and the Society?s Fine Rooms including the Main Hall and Map Room.

The exhibition
Showcasing the very best images from the international TPOTY awards, the exhibition is free. It presents dozens of glorious images from across the globe, together with some of the beautiful historical images from the archives of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
