Photographer and accomplished author Andy Stansfield (pictured) has announced two innovative one-day workshops for aspiring freelance photographers and writers. ‘Photography Skills for Writers’  will help participants gain an increased understanding of editors’ image requirements for different purposes,  and how to shoot images which will complement their writing and appeal to editors; while ‘Writing Skills for Photographers’ will coach photographers in the skills necessary for writing captions, magazine features and even books to accompany their images. The world of publishing need no longer remain a mystery to freelance photographers or writers wanting to develop the skills necessary to produce ‘words & pictures’ packages for ublication.Accomplished author, feature writer and photographer Andy Stansfield has announced two innovative one-day workshops for aspiring freelance photographers or writers, to help them extend their skills base and increase their earnings potential in the world of publishing.

‘Writing Skills for Photographers’ will coach participants in the skills necessary for writing captions, magazine features and even books to accompany their images. With an increased understanding of editorial requirements, freelance photographers can easily learn to provide ‘words & pictures’ packages which will be more appealing to editors than images alone and will bring repeat commissions leading to increased exposure, an enhanced reputation and, of course, a substantially better income.

‘Photography Skills for Writers’  will help participants gain an increased understanding of editors’ image requirements for different purposes,  and how to shoot images which will complement their writing and appeal to editors. This is not a ‘how to use your digital camera’ workshop for beginners but it is not necessary to have much technical knowledge of photography either. If you are still shooting everything on ‘auto’ but are interested in developing the words & pictures package, you will still find the workshop invaluable.

The maximum size of each workshop will be 10-12, depending on venue, and the cost will be £85 which includes light refreshments and lunch free of charge. All workshop venues will provide a pleasant and inspiring environment in which to learn and develop greater confidence.

Each ‘Writing Skills for Photographers’ workshop will run back to back on a weekend with a ‘Photography Skills for Writers’ workshop the following day, enabling involvement in both workshops if participants are that way inclined.

At a later date,  participants in either workshop can subscribe to a mentoring scheme if they wish, allowing specific one-to-one tuition tailored to the individual.
