Weekend of photography in Derby strengthens 60 years of teaching at University
University of Derby plays host to INFOT 2015 – a weekend conference for commercial and industrial photographers – this Friday and Saturday (13-14 November).
The event, organised by the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP), will be held at the University’s Markeaton Street Campus, where over 60 years of teaching photography at Derby is being celebrated.
Budding photographers are invited to a jam-packed weekend, which will include seminars, talks and practical workshops by some of the UK’s finest commercial and industrial photographers.
Tim Flach FBIPP, who has work in several major international public collections and is best known for his highly conceptual images of animals, will headline INFOT 2015.
Cameron Jinks, Programme Leader for Commercial Photography at the University of Derby, said: “We have been teaching photography in Derby for over 60 years and have a strong reputation professionally in the field.
“Hosting this highly prestigious event will strengthen our existing relationship with the BIPP and raise the profile of photography at Derby in the industry.
“INFOT 2015 also provides a fantastic environment for our students to meet high-profile, BIPP accredited commercial photographers and hear more about their experiences in the industry.”
Professor Chris White, Head of Media and Performing Arts at Derby, added: “We are proud of the heritage of photography here at Derby but, more importantly, this demonstrates our currency as entrepreneurial and industry-linked in our approach to photography and industry practice.”
