Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO-Lanthar for Sony E-Mount

The Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO-Lanthar is a new fast-fifty prime lens exclusively for Sony E-mount cameras.

According to a report on German photo news site, photoscala, Voigtlander are releasing the new lens to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their Classic lens range.

The Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO-Lanthar will have 12 circular aperture blades, "so that not only at aperture F2.0 but also at aperture F2.8 creates a circular opening".

The optical construction is "to aspheric lens elements, five with anomalous partial dispersion, an integrated floating-focus system and an optical calculation that reduces chromatic aberrations to near zero ensure outstanding performance."

The aperture can be selected in 1/3 stop steps via a manual ring, which can be de-clicked for video use.

The Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO-Lanthar weighs 364g and measures 62.6mm in length.

It has a 49mm filter thread and a minimum focusing distance of 45cm.

The release date and price have still to be officially confirmed by Voigtlander.
