Hamrick Software, the developer of VueScan, the world’s most widely used scanning software, now supports Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

March 15, 2011 - Hamrick Software, the developer of VueScan, the world’s most widely used scanning software, has released its latest version 9.0.21 – with full support for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

“We realise that many scanner users will soon start to use this operating system, and we are very happy to support it immediately” says Ed Hamrick, President of Hamrick Software. “A big change with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion that affects scanner users is that Lion does not support the Rosetta PowerPC emulation software.”

“Our major competitor, Silverfast, is an old-fashioned PowerPC program that has never been updated for Intel processors, so Silverfast doesn’t work on Lion.”

“The good news is that VueScan 9 works well on Lion and is available today. VueScan supports PowerPC, 32-bit Intel and 64-bit Intel in two different universal binary versions.” says Ed Hamrick.

VueScan supports more than 1600 scanners, and is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. VueScan offers a full range of advanced features; including options for scanning faded slides and prints and automatically adjusting images to optimum color balance that reduces the need to manually do it in Photoshop.
