UK magazine Amateur Photographer are giving away a rare Leica model O replica kit worth over £2,000 in its Christmas issue. The model O is a replica of the Prototype 2 camera, of which only 20 were made in 1923. The limited-edition kit was put together by Leica Camera AG to mark the 125-year anniversary of the death of Leica inventor Oskar Barnack. To enter the prize draw readers must collect four special tokens from AP issues. The closing date for the competition is Friday, 1 February 2008.

13 December 2007 - Amateur Photographer, the world’s leading weekly photographic magazine, is launching a competition to give away a rare Leica model O replica kit in its Christmas issue, AP 22/29 December 2007. The limited-edition kit was put together by Leica Camera AG to mark the 125-year anniversary of the death of Leica inventor Oskar Barnack. Worth well over £2,000, the special kit comprises a working replica of the original Leica model O 35mm camera and a ‘1 of 100’ archival print of a test photograph taken by Barnack himself during trials of his unique cameras.

To enter the prize draw readers must collect four special tokens from AP issues. The first token will be in AP 22/29 December, which is on sale from 18 December (subscribers 15 December). The remaining three tokens can be found in the news pages of AP 5, 12 and 19 January 2008.

The model O is a replica of the Prototype 2 camera, of which only 20 were made in 1923. The cameras were developed as an improvement on the first concept, the Ur Leica, and preceded the production-line Leica 1 cameras that launched the 35mm film format for still photography. Along with the camera, the certified print and presentation box is a DVD featuring previously unpublished films made by Oskar Barnack.

Having collected all four tokens readers must complete the entry form (published in the 22/29 December issue) and send it to Amateur Photographer, for inclusion in the Leica draw.
