The Women in Photography panel at The Photography Show 2016 will bring together a dynamic collection of women, each with her own perspective and experience as a woman working within the field of photography. The panel will discuss a range of topics including the ways in which women should network and share to promote their work, how to engage and get ahead across multiple fields, and the all-important questions of whether or not breaking the ‘glass ceiling’ is still relevant. The Women in Photography panel session will be followed by a networking event, offering the audience a chance to continue the discussion with their peers. Tickets to The Photography Show are now on sale, and visitors will have the option to add additional sessions to their package, including the Super Stage, priced at £10 per session. Women in Photography is a free-of-charge session.

Women in Photography in Full Focus at The Photography Show 2016

Taking place within the same month as International Women’s Day, the Women in Photography panel at The Photography Show 2016 will bring together Max Houghton, Marcia Michel, Vicki Churchill and Juno Calypso; a dynamic collection of women, each with their own perspective and experience as a woman working within the field of photography.

Introduced by Anna Fox, Professor of Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, and chaired Senior Lecturer of Photography Natasha Caruana, the panel will discuss a range of topics including the ways in which women should network and share to promote their work, how to engage and get ahead across multiple fields, and the all-important questions of whether or not breaking the ‘glass ceiling’ is still relevant.

Commenting on her involvement with the Women in Photography panel, Natasha Caruana said: ‘I am excited to chair this important panel which gives a voice and offers an opportunity to discuss female photographers working within the male dominated photographic industries. The panel brings together perspectives from art, photojournalism, education and commerce to interrogate their position and give advice to other females working within the industry.'

The Women in Photography panel session will be followed by a networking event, offering the audience a chance to continue the discussion with their peers.

Further individual talks are planned from the panel members, including a session from Vicki Churchill, on turning the everyday into the spectacular, entitled Atmospheric Objects are Everywhere, and tips from Marcia Michel on Surprising ways to bring Feeling and Emotion into your Portraits.

In previously announced news, the show will also see top Fashion Photographer Lara Jade, take a coveted Super Stage spot alongside other photography heroes David Bailey, Chris Packham, Alec Soth, Dan Rubin, Peter Dench, Nick Danziger and Bruce Gilden across the four day event. Having photographed for the likes of Conde Nast Brides, Tatler Hong Kong and Nylon Mexico, and with clients including Harrods and Sony, Lara Jade will take to the stage on Sunday 20 March to share her ’10 Year Evolution’ in the photography industry.
