Licence to zoom - the new Yakumo Mega-Image 84 D.

Braunschweig, 17th August 2004- Yakumo’s latest addition to the Mega-Image family is the new Mega-Image 84 D. This camera is aiming at enthusiastic amateur photographers who have a low budget and high expectations. The Mega-Image 84 D now takes on the role of top model in the Yakumo camera range and offers high performance optics at an amazingly low price of 249 euros. In September, the Mega-Image 84 D will become available at all Yakumo dealers.

The pride and joy of the new Mega-Image 84 D is the autofocus lens which has an 8x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 39.88 - 319 mm) which lets the photographer zoom in on distant objects and not be limited to his immediate surroundings. The additional 4x digital zoom adds further to the close-up capabilities of the camera.

A CCD sensor with 4.0 megapixel (effective) lies at the heart of the Mega-Image 84 D and makes photos with a maximal resolution of up to 3264 x 2448 pixels possible. For photographers who like to put their own personal hallmark and individual touch on their photo results, the Mega-Image 84 D has a range of manual settings, e.g. if desired, the white balance to alter the colour temperature for different photographic situations and the exposure setting for up to 14 modes can be adjusted manually. And the lens aperture can be set from F2.8 to F 5.5 (wide angle) and from F3.41 to F6.82 (telephoto). The shutter speed ranges from 16 to 1/2000 secs. The built-in, pop-up flash takes care of red-eye reduction and can be set to force on, slow and off positions. The Mega-Image 84 D can also be used to take video clips and with the handy self-timer function it lets the camera man get in on the act.

16 megabytes of memory are standard with the camera and they can be optionally extended to 512 megabytes using SD or MM cards. USB 2.0 full speed makes the data transfer of photo files and video clips to PC or notebook a speedy procedure. For creative finishing touches, Yakumo supplies the Ulead software Photo Explorer 8.0 SE, Video Studio 7.0 SE and Cool 360, which make album compilation and post-editing of photos an easy and fun task.

The Yakumo Mega-Image 84 D comes equipped with 4 AA batteries, a USB and a video cable, a lens cap, a shoulder strap and a manual alongside a CD containing the software and drivers.
